The life of these batteries is suppose to be 10 years. Since I have been using these cameras approximately 15 years, I would like to replace them. Does anyone out there have experience replacing this battery? Where is it located? How difficult is it to replace? Should I have it done at a service center? If the battery is going out the LCD will flash ISO 100, takes a small 3v CR2016 battery (Radio Shack). If you change it yourself, the + contact goes towards the camera body and the - contact against the metal plate there are no polarity indicators in there. Remove the battery grip/holder you will see a metal plate with 6 screws, the battery is under the plate Also the 3 long screws go towards the back of the camera the 3 short screws towards the front. A piece of cake to change.

I was wondering if anyone has replaced the lithium battery in a Minolta slr film camera. Mine is about 13 years old and still love the incredible pictures this camera is capable. All technical information seems that if the lithium battery needs changing to take it to Minolta repair facility. Can't be that difficult. Also anyone know anything about the Data Back 70. The display is going out. Currently it has A 76 batteries button batteries. I thought that the 357 Duracell replaced it but they did not work. Thanks in advance for any information, it is greatly appreciated. Thanks Ken

I own a minolta x-700 and everything seems to work just fine still except when I load film the counter never moves. The red bar moves across the line which helps me keep track but does anyone have any thought to what I need to do? Thanks.

Hi, I've Minolta AF 7000. I wish to renew my machine with a digital one. Infact, I don't have a clue about its second hand price. Could somebody help me to find a reasonable price for my set that includes the machine itself, AF 35-70, AF 70-210 lenses and its flash? Thank you. Hakan

I recently purchased a used Maxxum 7000 on ebay(which I may come to regret). At any rate I cannot for the life of me get it to function. I have changed the batteries three times, loaded new film and NADDA. I thought perhaps the batteries were the culprit as the program screen would flash in and out, but now I get nothing. There is some corrosion in the battery pack(I assume the last owner didn't bother to remove the batteries before storing it)- would this cause the batteries to not make a connection? I have tried to remove some of it, but I don't want to cause damage and not be able to return it. Overall the camera body and lens are in great condition and I would REALLY like to be able to use this buggar...anyone have any ideas? Please forgive my ignorance as I am used to working with digital cameras. Thanks so much.

"Humidity won't cause a camera to stuck."Not true!! Cameras that use old-fashioned fabric curtains, like the Minolta X700, are notorious for sticking or slowing up in humid conditions. The fabric swells with moisture and inteferes with the surrounding mechanism. This happens even more frequently with older cameras half-full of grit and debris.

Also, the Chinese-made X-700s apparently used a locally subcontracted glue to adhere the curtains and these cameras seem more prone to shutter sticking.

Im having a problem with the counter on my X700. The shutter still works, and the counter can count up. The problem is when i open the back, the counter should return to 0, instead it goes down to 14 and will not go any further. Does anyone have a fix for this? If not I'll bring it to a camera shop. thanks a bunch, any help would be great -Omar
