I just bought my first film camera, an X700, and am having a problem that seems common throughout this message board. I tried loading up film for the first time, but the film advance lever won't move beyond the 30-degree point of engagement. The LED in the viewfinder is lit so, according to the manual, the brand new batteries are correctly installed.

My name is Ari and I live in Indonesia. I have a AF Minolta Maxxum 7000, which I bought in 1993. It was a best camera and spent 10 rolls with excelent pictures. Since 2001, I have problems with this camera. It creates under exposure even with Program mode. I thought it was because in Canada winter, but last week It created the same effect even in the hot Java sun. Please help me with this problem.
Thank you.

Hello

I purchased a used Minolta 7000AF Maxxum SLR 35 mm camera. I received the standard lens that originally accompanied the body along with a 50 mm lens and a 300 mm zoom lens. The guy who sold it to me thought the camera had a light leak and did not wwant it anymore. Figuring it could be repaired I purchased the entire set up for $150.00. I bought some film and tried it out. The pictures came out fine. Apparently, he had purchased a package of 10 rolls of film that was bad. Anyway, I am in search of the owners manual in order to help me use this camera properly. I want to learn how to use the f-stops and aperture settings in order to take a variety of creative images. This camera is a great camera if the user knows how to set up his camera. If anyone can be of any help please write me directly at terry5771@cox.net. I live in the WAsh DC area until January 2005.

Terry

I have a Minolta X-700 MPS 35mm with an awesome lens on it that my dad gave me. He took about 4 rolls of film on it, and the shutter locked up, so he gave it to me. My dad is pretty knowledgable, and he tells me that I should just go out and buy a new camera body for the lens instead of trying to get it fixed. Anybody have any ideas on where to start looking for info or camera bodies, or should I take my camera to my local camera and photo place? Thanks guys!

Hello, I just bought my 17 year old daughter a X-700 for photography class. Anyways, I was wondering what lenses and flash I can buy to fit it.

We haven't received the camera yet, but what I have been reading about it, it sounds like a great beginner camera as well as one she will be able to use in many many years to come.

Hello, first time on this site so here goes.

I have had my camera, Minolta Dynax 7000i for 15 years approximately. It now shows up with a message on the top screen saying "HELP", flashing. Can anyone assist with this problem or give me some guidance please. I have today purchsed a new battery but the same effect continues. Am considering taking it to my local camera shop (where I purchased it) near where I live but just wanted to know whether anyone else has come across this problem. The camera is totally lifeless at this moment and I would dearly like to use it again as it has served me well over the years.

Regards

Andy

ps Its nice to know sites like yours exist for this type of thing!!! Hope you can help or know someone who can.

Need help in use of AE lock. Manual is very sketchy. What is the "normal Position" What happens when I pull the "lever" up and a red mark appears? What is the effect of holding down the lever?

Also, in using a MD lens , celtic 28m what is the effect of just placing thef-22 stop at the lower lever vs. turning it until it stops (about 3/16th inch rotation. I wanted to use the P mode with the MD lens at its minimum aperture (first stop or to end of stop) so I can jsut focus and shoot. My pictures come out crazy. Outside dark, inside under fluorescent lights sort of OK.

The AE lock seems to have two positions, ST (what does this stand for) and AEL (what does this stand for). HOswever, I can also push the lever down but there is no specific identifying marks to indicate what this does.

I have the Instruction manual but I am confused by the simplistic instrucitons. Is there an Operation Manual that is more helpful?

Thank yo for whatever information you can send.

I have not used this venue before so I do not know if my answer will be somewhere on the Minolta Site or on my email (rjkimber@earthlink.net). Best regards, John

My Maxxum seems slow to recover power for the next shot and often needs a long time. Often it will not fire with the lens going in and out of focus. Is this a battery problem?
Is there an attachable battery pack needed and available or what's my problem?
