Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
Each of these three featured Minolta SLR camera models represent an era of its own to lead and has great influence over the entire photographic community. Unlike the two great Minolta cameras of yesteryears in the XK/XM/X1 and the XD-7, these newer series of Minolta classic served a different segment of users. This is a great resource. It looks like a good amount of work was put into it. It really shows. I haven't used my X-700 in quite a while, and I came to this site to help me get re-aclimated to the camera. I got new batteries and some film, but I am having problems. I cannot advance the film, or open and close the shutter. The LED does light up, but I cannot take a picture. I was looking for a "troubleshooting" page, but could not find one and thought I would ask the question. Again, fantastic site! It is an example of what the Internet should offer everyone. Thanks, Kevin Cashin2. From : Dale (dip@clearwatermusic.net)

My dad is a retired professional photgrapher and has used an X700 for the last 20 years. Last week while trying to use his X700 the camera would no longer advance the film. It's as if the film advance leaver is locked and wont move more than 1/2 inch. We tried new batteries and still no luck. Any ideas as to what the problem is? The meter in the viewfinder lights up signaling enough power in the batteries. Thanks, Dale3. From : Paul (santa@ntplx.net)

Hi there: Just wondering if anybody uses a program back 70? Is there a way to tell if the LCD are lighting without using flim? If you hold the door open and just start shooting will the LEDs flash? Thanks paul4. From : gil (gg74@free.fr)

I have a Maxxum 7000 AF SLR camera S/N 22059416. I am borrowing a "NOVATRON 240" light set with 2 umbrellas, with flash. I bought a hot-shoe to connect to the sync cable for the NOVATRON 240. We are taking prom photos on May 1st. With the camera in manual focus, and the camera set to manual, aperture set to 8 and the speed set to 1/8. (We changed the aperture and the speed several different ways) When we press the button to take a picture, the camera makes the same sound as when you have the auto-focus on. (It sounds as though the lens is trying to focus itself) I have depressed the button to take a photo, and while it was depressed, refocused from behind the subject to in front of the subject, and I hear short moments of the camera trying to focus itself, even though the manual focus is on. I cannot activate the shutter. Then after a few minutes of playing around, the camera will take a picture but I can’t duplicate it. Have you ever heard about anything like this, and would you have some ideas I could try? Thanks, Jeff

I have a 7000 AF here. It's a great camera... except for the fact that it won't turn on anymore. I had a problem where the camera was saying that the film was finished when it really wasn't... then I removed the film (while exposing it and destroying the photos) so that I could reload and continue taking pictures. I figured that removing the exsisting film and reloading would convince the camera of the fact that it did ineed have film in it. The odd thing that happened was that the camera refused to power back up when I turned it off. Anyone have any advice or similar experience(s)??? Thanks in advance!10.
