Jonnie,

Based on prices for the F3T on several sites, the average price in excellent, or what you call B+, condition was around $750-$800US. This could vary considerably, depending on if you're buying from a store or from an individual. Try the auction site E-bay. There may be better deals there.

Regards,

Walt

Can anyone tell me where to find the storage place on the MD-4 for the cap that is removed from the baseplate of the f3 when the motor drive is attached. Please respond to oldsalt23@yahoo.com. Thanks

To Jon: Batteries for F3: either two 1.55 V silver-oxide S-76 (e.g., Everready EPX76), two alkaline-manganese 1.5 V LR44, or one 3 V Lithium power cell CR1/3. Be sure that the battery "plus" sign is up when inserting it in the holder, and the contacts are clean. Don't mix fresh with old batteries, or use a mix of different types.

Hermann,
Unfortunately was you recommened didn't work. I guess I will have to have it looked at professionally. Perhaps I am using the wrong type of batteries however... What type does the F3 use?

To Daniel: With a Nikon extension tube mounted between lens and camera body, you cannot see any longer the aperture in the window above the viewfinder picture, but the exposure time. In automatic mode, automatic metering still works. For the aperture, you must look at the aperture ring at the lens. Since it is TTL metering, you need not apply an extension factor; the latter is necessary when you use an independent (hand held) light meter and set the aperture/exposure time manually.

To Jon: It may sound odd, but you have perhaps forgotten to activate the metering by moving the power switch (under the film advance lever) till the red dot is uncovered. Then, after tipping slightly on the shutter release button, the meter is activated, and you will see the exposure time in the LED window above the viewfinder. Then press the shutter release button, and afterwards, the film advance lever can be wound for one frame; this lever can only be operated when the meter is on. If you don't see the exposure time, something is wrong with the battery, the contacting, or the circuitry.

I recently came into possession of a Nikon F3 camera. Unfortunately however it is not working correctly. The film advance lever will not advance as far as it should, except when the backup mechanical lever is used to trip the shutter. After tripping the shutter it will advance normally but when returned to its position it will lock up again. The shutter release button is not working either. In addition, the shutter speed window inside of the camera appears blank. What is the problem? I have tried replacing the batteries but nothing changed. Maybe I did something wrong in that area, I don't know. Please email me with any help you folks can offer. Thank you.

To Mathew: The finder of the F3P, equipped with an ISO hotshoe, can only be used with the F3P, not with the F3 or F3HP. If you want to use only one flash, there are two options: use Nikon's AS-17 adapter in order to maintain full TTL capability with the F3 and an ISO flash, or use a third party flash like Metz with two different "dedicated" adapters (i.e., one for the F3 and one for the FM).
