With reference to the light meter not working ie; only reading 80, the meter will be come active once the film advance reads past zero, ie: first shot with new film.

Hi Jamie, You are welcome. I believe once the flash and camera both set to TTL and auto, exposure will be correct, once again, don,t afraid to expose a roll of film and take it to develope with your flash and camera set to auto, and see what,s the result(^_^) Kirk C

Thanks kirk for your comments! With my Olympus OM-4 the pilot lamp (both in the flash and viewfinder) blinks a few times to indicate a correct exposure is achieved. What is the F3/SB-16 indicator for a correct exposure?

I have an F3 and I'm not sure if the metering is working. On the LCD, it only goes up to 80 with an M, but no plus or minus (+ -). Shouldn't I be able to get that, so I can get the exposure right? Does it sould like something's broken? Thanks very much.

Jammie, I have a SB16 flash also, i set the correct film speed and turn the flash to TTL mode, I didn,t see any problems after the pictures were developed^^one thing was, did u adjust the flashhead to the right range of the lens u have on the camera? Simple way to tell is, shoot a roll of film with the flash in TTL mode and take it to develope, the will be easiler to tell wheather the flash or camera having problems or none^^ Takecare!!

Hi, I purchased a Nikon SB16 for my F3, What´s the "correct exposure" indicator when set in the TTL position? In any of the the two auto settings the flash works right and sends out a minimal light output when tested against a light wall from 1.5 meters (5 feet) but when I set the TTL position (at the same distance) the SB16 sends out the full charge, the pilot or test light at the back and in the viewfinder glows 3 or 4 times and then the unit starts recycling taking a few seconds for this. which of the two are failing the camera or the flash? thanks Jamie.
