To William Hi, sounds like problems with the electric circuit, espec. contact. Maybe sort of corrosion caused bey humidity? Just wonder for the LCD illumination is still in order for mine is out of order for no use for a couple of years, hmmmmm.... So maybe, some cleaning of the contacts will be helpful for the lady. Regards, Hauke

I own a couple of F3 bodies. Recently the older of the two became problematic, in that the shutter relase will not fire. The batteries are good, the meter is on, and the LCD illuminates. However, the camera will not release from the shutter release atop the camera. However, I CAN release the shutter from the "manual" (1/55th) switch and, low and behold, it sounds as if the speeds are functioning consonant with the display. Finally, sometimes the display WILL NOT illuminate and, when this is the case, setting the self timer seems to re-vitalize the display. Any guesses as to what may be going on? Thanks a lot.

Nikon F301 (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/htmls/models/htmls/slr8486.htm) and Nikon F3 are two different camera type see http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonf3ver2/index.htm
as for your question, you can refer to the various nikon board http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/messageboard/Various-Nikon/index.php3 and see others can help. P is for PROGRAM AUTO, P Hi is referring to auto setting to higher shutter speed when your camera detects you are using a longer focal length lenses and set the program to higher speed to avoid hand shake.

I have tried, the effective keyword is "camera case" and look for the F3HP cases from the returned results. Hope it helps.

CF-22 ? see here:- http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonf3ver2/accessories/Nikon_CF22/index.htm
that was a F3HP (DE-3) right ? I read it cannot cover with the AS-7, I think the DE-2 rubber eyecup can just flip backward to the eyepiece. The front section can takes your 50mm f/1.4, 28mm f1.2 but not the 105mm. I am having the CF-20 it has the same dimension as the CF-22. Some Nikon cases can interchange with a longer "nose" but I doubt they ares till making them. I notice a gentleman was disposing his CF-22 at MIR's FTZ section (Do a search and see if he still selling it). http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/ftz/index.php3 type Nikon case or CF22 (or CF-22) and change the menu to messages and see.

Hello! Following information of the official Nikon site about accessories compatibility, I’m going to buy CF22 case for my Nikon F3HP. But I’ve red in some forums, that this case isn’t roomy enough for camera with DE3 prism. Unfortunately, regional Nikon’s dialer doesn’t sell CF22 and I can’t test it with my camera. Owners of CF22+F3HP answer, please: 1) does CF22 rubs top of the F3HP prism? 2) can I get into the case body with attached AI 50mm 1/1.4 lens? with AIS 28mm 1/2.0? with AIS 105mm 1/2.5? And the last question: has Nikon ever produced hard case for F3HP camera? Thank you!

To: Peter Starvaski: I'm experiencing a wierd issue with my F3. . .

I occasionally have a similar problem that only occurs when using a 250mm plus telephoto zoom range in the A setting in low light situations. The lens is a Tamron 28-300 AF XR, so I just thought the combination of the relatively slow aftermarket lens and the low light created a compatibility problem with the F3's meter. The Tamron lens is an OK lens, but is slow and gives a somewhat dim viewfinder regardless of zoom range. I figured the problem was more related to the amount of light the lens transmits as the maximum aperature becomes smaller in the 250-300mm zoom range. When I use a shorter length lens (any maker), shorter zoom range with the Tamron, or a faster lens in the same low light conditions I haven't experienced the problem. It is interesting that you are using a Nikkor lens and experiencing the same problem.

I'm experiencing a wierd issue with my F3. During my last roll of film all of a sudden the LCD would only display 8 for a shutter speed while on "A" - automatic. When you shoot a frame the shtter stays open, forever, until I take it off A. When I go to a manual speed I only get a "-" at all speeds, never a + or the combination of the two indicating proper exposure. However the shutter appears to open/close at the dialed speed. I took out the film, the 4 or 5 prints on it were fine. I replaced the batteries, gave it a good dusting, re-set my Nikkor AE lens, put in a fresh roll of film, and I got the 80 for the first few frames, per usual, and then it did it again. On "A", the speed displays 8 on the LCD, the shutter stays open until I force it closed, and on manual speeds the AE does not appear to be working. I've searched this forum and can not find an answer.. apologies if it's out there. HELP! Thanks, Pete
