I am about to replace the mirror foam on my F3. Is there an easy way to remove the housing the foam sits on to remove the old foam or do I have to remove the old foam whilst it is in the camera? many thanks

Delfin, El F3 y el MD4 son no más largo en la producción. 2001 eran su último año. Están prontamente disponibles en el mercado utilizado, y el precio varía dependiendo de extensamente la condición y el suministro. Walt

Chris, Put the shutter speed dial in the "A" position, for aperture priority shooting. Set the aperture ring on a low number f2.8, f3.5,f4 in that range. Make sure the power switch is "on" and the shutter release button depressed about halfway. As you move the camera around looking at brighter and then dimmer light sources, you should see the shutter speed readings in the LCD change accordingly. If these numbers are not changeing, then there is probably something wrong with the meter and you should get it checked. P. S. There are two LEDs in the F3 series cameras. The flash ready light in the viewfinder and the self-timer light on the front are both LEDs. Walt

There is no LED in the F3. IF the LCD shows, the meter works. Don't waste your hard earned $$ for repair because there is nothing to be repaired (just service).

My F3 HP's light meter doesnt work; the LCD works and shows the aperture speed correctly, but there is no indication of light metering. Is there some way to reset it, etc. to avoid having to take it in? By the way, Professional Camera Repair in NYC is one of the best. Kind of pricey, though. Thanks.

Neal, The SB-18 will work with the Nikon F-301 camera. The SB-18 simply plugs into the ISO hotshoe on top of the camera. You do not need an adapter. It is a small unit that sits upright on the camera, and is relatively low powered (guide number of 66 with ISO 100 film). Depending on what you intend to use the camera for, it may serve your purpose quite well. These units were produced in the early 1980's, and were sold as part of a promotional package, so make sure the unit you are considering works before you buy it. Walt

Hi, I have just inherited 2No F301's. I want to obtain a flash and have been reading about a SB18 speedlight. I am struggling to understand their compatability and I do not want to buy any adapters etc. Can anyone please help and tell me if this flash will fit straight onto my cameras, or if any other of the speedlight range, or any other makes will fit. Many thanks Neal
