To Wes Tyler: Elsewhere in this messageboard's archives are some users' problems with late serial F3. Your case further adds to the disturbing findings of newer F3 bodies with quality issues. Earlier serial blocks seem to have no problems and continue to function well despite some 20 years of use. The only common problem back then was the exposure memory lock button which 'came off' so easily and had to be replaced.

Guys, BEFORE you asked at least try to perform a search on within the archive of messages posted earlier - it MAY has an answer to your simple needs ! Even if you DON'T - the site has already has an instruction manual in HTML in it , all you need to do is to go to the main page READ what it has to offer B4 another "can I .... instruction manual please ..." kind of question popping up at this message board again - anyway that is what a website is for, at least be grateful to what the creator has done for all of us thus far !

I recently acquired an F301. There are several knobs (for lack of a better word) which I do not understand. I recognized the L for lock the S for single and C for continuous. But there are other areas which are foreign to me. Can anyone help me. Thanks . Merlie of New Orleans

To Joan. The value of a Nikon F3 depends on a number of factors. A prospective buyer will look at, among others, cosmetic condition of the camera, functions, light seals etc. Some may want to see the serial number of the camera to ascertain the 'age' , with the newer ones in the 19xxxxx and above serial block. As the F3 was introduced over 20 years ago, it may be some concern with buyers since the F3 is an electronic camera, and repairs if need be, can be rather costly. A collector will pay upwards of US$700 for really pristine, 'like new' Nikon F3, and very much less for those with 'brassing', scratches and dents.
