To anybody that can help me " PLEASE " ??????? I recently purchased a used Nikon F 3 ( Serial # 1671109 ) from a camera shop. How do I go about verifying how old it is and obtaining a owners manual that would be applicable to this model? Thank you in advance. Wayne L.

I am having an issue with my F-3. With the setting on "A" I cannot get the shuter speed to change from 80. I do not have a flash attached. At manual 2000 to manual 80 and at 80 it indicates 60 and goes on increasing to 8 sec. I did thake the camera to the shop to have it cleaned and this is the first time I have tried to use it since then. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jack

Diana: Are you are pressing the depth of field button to darken the screen? This stops down the aperture on an auto lens and the screen will darken. It might help if you post the type of lens you are using the camera with. With pre 1977 lenses, there is a different metering technique. In any case, the metering is done in concert with the +/- indicator in the LCD display. You have come to the right place about your F3. Why don't you have a read of the instruction manual that Leonard Foo has posted here? Don't give up on it...you have inherited a fine professional grade camera .

My MD-4 will immediately drain all of its batteries. I suspect there must be a short circuit somewhere. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The manual shutter release is also jammed. Can anyone recommend an easy fix or does this need to be sent to the repair shop? I would also appreciate recommondations for authorized Nikon repair shops.

Thanks,
Frank

Diana, the small circle is simply a 'split-image' focusing aid. By your description, the lens you are using may be 'slow' i.e. F/5.6 or smaller (larger number) hence the darkening of the circle. But this slow speed does not mean you can't get good, properly exposed pictures. Is the shutter speed dial on 'A' and film speed correspond to the film ASA/ISO dial settings? Also check if the exposure compensation indicator is at the red 'O' (next to the ASA/ISO setting dial).

I have inherited an F3, and can't grasp how the light meter works. A small circle remains clear, half-black and half-clear, or altogether black, and my first prints indicate gross over-exposure by relying on the clear circle, which someone told me to do, as confirmation of the right exposure. Help!

Hi there,

I also am in search of the instruction manual for the F3HP
in PDF format. If someone would be so kind as to e-mail it to
me, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks very much.

If anyone wishes to e-mail me directly feel free to do so. I keep hearing that Nikon has ceased production of the F3-but the serial numbers continue to get closer to Serial#:2000000. Does anyone know if they reached 2000000 and have they really stopped production of the Nikon F3HP?
Thank you, Harvey Bennett e-mail: hbb1121@aol.com

I really love the work you have done here. I'd like a copy of the F3 and SB-12 manuals in PDF but it says to request via e-mail. Can you please e-mail me the PDF versions of the manuals to my e-mail address? I really appreciate it. Thanks, A. Peguero apeguero@mediaone.net
