Please ask you camera club members to send disposable Lithium batteries here, instead of the landfill. Hi, did you know that batteries are responsible for up to 70% of all toxic metals in landfills? See Mountain Equipment Co-ops information pages. Do something now, otherwise disposable batteries will poison our children's children. Do your members know there is a program in Vancouver, Canada to revive and refresh used disposable Lithiums? Which don't weigh much to ship. Consider accumulating and mailing used Lithiums for revival and reuse. Please advise your members that the following locations accept used CR2, CR123, and CR123A Lithium batteries at no charge:

- Choices Market, 1202 Richards Street, Vancouver BC V6B 3G2
- The Roundhouse Community Centre: 181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver BC V6Z 2W3
- Capers Community Market, 1675 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC V6G 1C8
- JV Bike Sales & Rentals, 1387 Richards St, Yaletown, BC V6B 3G6

What does Vancouver do with refreshed Lithium batteries? Most CR2's and CR123's are handed out to amateur photographers and backpackers (e.g. the Europe Bound shop on Broadway.) Some Lithiums are sold at very low prices to pay for the overheads, example, Cdn $3 plus shipping at Holiday Photo, 14-2949 Main Street, Vancouver, BC V5T 3G4. Let's not poison the water and land that future generations will need! battery_rescue@yahoo.com Battery Rescue Initiative, Vancouver, Canada

If you have equipment for sale, please use the Free Trade Zone (see link above) to list your items. The intent of this forum is to exchange information, not advertise items for sale. Thank you.

Philip: Try replacing the batteries, and cleaning the contacts in the battery compartment with a pencil eraser, being sure to remove all of the eraser debris. If this doesn't work, you probably should have it looked at by a competent camera repair shop.

Edward: You don't need to do anything to the AF Nikkor lens so it will work on the F3HP. The lens can be manually focused. There aren't any electrical contacts on the F3HP to engage those on the lens, so the AF function is not activated. The AF lens works just like a MF lens. I have a 28-105mm AF-D Nikkor I use on my F3HP all the time, and I use it just like my MF lenses. No problem at all.
