Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. My mum just gave me her old Nikon FE2, but the film rewind knob and crank are gone. I was wondering if it is possible to find a replacement piece, whether it be online or at a camera repair shop? and particularly a shop in Vancouver BC.

Yeap, never heard of it before. Probably was a one time production for that special Winter Olympic Games ?

I have an unusual Nikon strap which came on an FE I purchased. The main body is yellow with a black edge on both sides and Nikon in black lettering. So far nothing special, right? What's strange is the leather tab embossed with the olympic rings, "Official Oympic camera", "Sarajevo 84", and the stylized snowflakes from those Olympics. I contacted Nikon and they danced all around the subject. Any ideas from anyone?
Thanks!

Defective back-opener-lever-FE.
Hello I have seen an FE-body in a shop which has the back-opening system defective. The disk where the level is sitting is freely rotating. In a working body it can be pushed against a resistance which will free the film-rewind/back-crank/back-opener. Despite this being defective i could open the back.
1. What is defective and can it be repaired by myself? e.g. repairing hotshoe(having no contac) is almost impossible without special tools and skills.
Is it possible that spare parts are needed? which one(s)? Thank you very much.

Hey all,

Since a few weeks my FE doesn't work anymore. It is the shutter which is stuck, only the mirror went up and now it doesn't advance anymore and the shutter won't fire.
Do you maybe have tips to solve this?

My question is: can use DX lenses Nikon FE and FE2 cameras; work?
With autofocus lenses, the photometer can operate in FE2?
Thanks

Just got my FE2 back from the repair shop which performed a full CLA and repaired the light meter that was draining the battery. The camera now works like brand new. Although I switched to Digital the FE2 was my first semi-pro camera back in 1987. I had to sell it in 1991, but I always remebered that camera. In 2007 I purchased it again. Hope to get some good use out of it now that I have more Nikkor lenses to use, than I did back in 1987.
