Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. I have an old FE which I LOVE (my only camera), but have had a problem. The battery runs out if you leave the film advance lever even slightly off the closed position next to the knob with AUTO and all the shutter speeds. The meter stays on if you leave it like this, and it drains the battery. So don't do it. If it does happen, switch the aforementioned knob to M90 to unjam it.2. From : Christian Maldonado Fisker. Hi Nikonholics! It seems to be a problem which is common with FE(2) users, once dropped hard, you cant rewind the shaft/film transport! Is there anyone here who has found out what the problem is?? Please inform us all. Kind Regards Christian Maldonado Fisker,Copenhagen Denmark.3. From : chuck hester (chuckhester2000@yahoo.com)

To Don Netko, As far as repair facilities there is a very good one in the Phoenix area. The name of the company is Tempe Camera. They have been around many years and I have used them a few times with great success. You can find them listed in the Yellow Pages. Best Regards, Chuck Hester Phoenix, Arizona4. Hi, I bought a used Nikon FE on the market. It was relative cheap. But it seemed that the transport of the film is blockes. The mirror doesn´t come down either. One thing what I considered is that the batteries are empty, so I bought new ones. But somehow it is still not working. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks Kashif5. Julie,
There is a lock release that you must push to adjust the ISO setting on your camera. I hope this helps.
Best Regards,
Chuck Hester

I am using my sister´s camera for a photography class. I know she got it in the eighties and I know that it is a Nikon, but it is without an obvious model (make?) number on it. On the back, in extrememly small letters, FE 3238568 is printed to the right of the viewfinder.
Here is my problem: I am in spain with a minimal ability to speak spanish, and the camera´s AVA/ISO dial is stuck on 3200. To say the least, a problem, because even if I go to the photo store, I wont be able to tell them whats wrong. So now I am in one of the most beautiful places Ive ever been, taking a photo class, and I am forced to use my point-and-click camera instead of the 35mm.
Can anyone help me figure out how to fix the camera speed dial? Thank you. Please email me at pookabug@aol.com Thank you. Julie7. From : Don Netko (dnetko@cox.net)

My FE Film Advance lever will only move about 30 degrees from a closer position, and won't advbance the film or all the shutter to release. Does anyone know what is wrong, or where it can be fixed. This has been a great camera for me for more than 20 years, it has traveled the world several times and takes great photos. If anyone has an answer or knows where I can send the camera for repair, I would greatly appreciate it.

I just wanna say THANKS A LOT to the author of this site. My father gave me his excellent condition 1978 FE camera and thought it was broken, turned out it was a small problem with the batteries -needed to clean the battery chamber-, I almost had it repaired at some camera store which I doubt has qualified personnels to fix cameras. Thanks to this site, I managed to fix the issue. And there's so many other useful infos in this site!
Do keep this site running for years, I swear there's a lot of ppl in this world who needs this site like me.
Once again, thanks a lot!:D10. Terry - after all it is an old camera an I do not think that offering you a new camera with a discount is that bad PR. However, you may be able to have your camera repaired by scavenging for a donor body. Good luck.
