Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Thanks very much Mike, I just put it in M90 and *click* everything's OK. I feel like such a newbie. Wait a minute, I am a newbie. Cheers!

I just did a very stupid thing to my FE, and something seems to have stopped working. I advanced the film, cocked the self-timer and depressed the shutter release button. However, before the self-timer could finish its winding travel and before the shutter opened, I unthinkingly pushed the film advance lever to its "off" position.

The shutter never opened, and the mirror is stuck at the lock-up position. Now I cant even advance film (film advance lever refuses to move), and I cant trigger the shutter. What do you think happened? Have I damaged anything? Help, please!

Maria the FE2 weighs approx 550g without any lens. Now len's? A little to a lot. They all weigh different amounts and you need to be specific about which one. George BTW why didn't you want to buy my camera? :-)

Hi, Can anyone tell me how much the FE2 weighs? with or without a lens, I just need to get a fair idea because I would like to buy one but the weight is an issue - I already own a Canon A-1, sturdy, excellent, but by today's standards....very heavy! Thanks! Maria

I have an FE, bought second-hand about ten years ago. It has had minimal use in the intervening time. It has a periodic problem with the mirror/shutter locking in the retracted position after the shutter is activated. I don't think that the problem is mechanical such as mirror slide physically jamming because when I vary the shutter speed knob from A to M90 this seems to release the mirror/shutter. Maybe I should again replace the battery. Does anyone have a suggested diagnosis and remedy? Thanks (PS: Please don't open my e-mail address up to spammers.)

Hi, when I was advancing a new fil my FE2 suddenly jammed. I opened the botton to free the mechanism, but it still jams after each shot and the mirror does not return to its place unless I move the lever inside the ring. The shop repair that I went (Fotomek in Rome, where I live) told me that an inside lever has broken requiring the change of a whole piece or circuitry, something that would cost around 160 Euro, more than the price of the camera. Any suggestions of what I can do or to where I can go (honest and reliable) to repair the camera in Rome? Thanks, Eduardo Gradilone

Hello and thanks in advance for all responses! I was wondering if an underwater housing has been made for the Nikon FE2...and if so, what is it called/the model name? Also, if you know anyone who might be selling one, please let me know! THANKS ! Brian
