Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. I will soon be purchasing a camera body to use with my existing Nikon FM and AI lenses as well as a new AF lense. I am considering the new FM3A or a used FE2. It doesn't appear to me that there are significant differences between these 2 models. Can someone tell me what the real difference is between the FE2 and the FM3A? Both offer TTL flash which is important to me. Do they function about the same in that regard?2. From : michael (mnm207@stern.nyu.edu)

the grid mentioned a couple posts back is not in the lens. this grid is on the focusing screen which is inside the camera. this screen can be changed (though not as easily as changin lenses...). also, this grid will appear no matter what lens is mounted since it is on the grid and not the lens.
yes, it is there for keeping horizontals horizontal and verticals vertical. or at least for watching them. the grid is also helpful for watching your composition.

Luke,
In the US, the camera in mint condition sells for $350 - $450. The winder about $150 -
$200 and the lens, depending on which lens is $100 - $300. I'm not familiar with
Canadian vs US exchange rate. To me it sounds fair, it's a great camera and will last almost
forever. I'm a TV Producer and it's never let me down.

Hi,
I purchased a Nikon FE2 (black body-in mint shape), a MD12 winder (in mint shape) and a nikon lens that has a grid when you look through it. I assume the grid is for perfect horizontals and vertical pictures? Anyway, I paid 730.00 incl. tax canadian. Can anybody out there tell me whether I got taken or got a fair deal? It's eating away at me.
Thanks luke5. From : Luke (bikevstar@yahoo.ca)

Help! My Nikon FE quit. What could be the problem? There is no film in the camera, I tried to wind it and the wind lever is half way stuck. I opened the back and the shutter curtain looks ok, I took off the lense and the mirror is in it's up position. I turned the shutter speed dial to M90 nothing happened. What next? Can it be fixed? Is it a big fix job? Any advice will be appreciated.8. From : James Wilds (jwilds@sc.rr.com)

If you are wanting to sell your FE series camera may I suggest that you use the "Free Trade Zone" section of the P.I.M. web site. There is a link in the opening paragraph of this message board. The Link is designated by a different colored font. The "Free Trade Zone" has much higher traffic so your chance of receiving responses is much greater. Hope this helps.
