Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Hello
Glad I found this forum.I'm looking or contemplating to buy a Nikon FE2 in the next month.
What should I expect to receive? Will be there any serious damage in the light leak seal foam? The rubber on the eyepiece? Are still out there any sources for new focusing screens? If the leatherette is damaged or starting to peel off, how do I repair it?
Any source for the battery/ies this camera use or any modern battery substitute?
Thanks for your replies

Hi Nikonians,
i´d like to thank to Rick Oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com), who guided me well to finde Jon Goodman (jon_goodman@yahoo.com), who helped me a lot to solve my troubles with repairing mirror damper in my second hand bought NIKON FE2.
Thank you, friends.

Matt; Why this works, I'm not sure but, if you set the shutter speed to M90 then release the shutter, advance the film wind, then set to your choice of shutter speed, that should fix the problem.8. From : Dr RAVIKANT NARAIN (ravikantnarain@gmail.com)

I am a proud owner of Nikon FE2 since last 15 years. Recently there has been a problem with its shutter, which is the original titanium honeycomb vertical shutter. The blades have started entangling among each other and the camera has stopped functioning.I am based at New Delhi and the local Nikon Dealers/authorized service centers have been unable to replace the shutter due to non availability of the same. I am eagerly looking for a remedy to this problem, request for an intelligent and easy solution to it.9. From : Glen (scripscan@aol.com)

Using the SB 800 on TTL mode on my Nikon FE2, what F-stop do I have to use? Should I set it full open or all the way down?
Thank you,

I received an FE as a gift. The shutter doesn't seem to operate, and I'd like to bounce the symptoms off y'all and see if it's just a bonehead thing before I take it to a repair shop...
THe exposure meter seems to work fine; the needle moves appropriately with the light levels in the viewfinder and changes in aperture. Battery LED checks OK. Shutter button locks when winding arm is closed flush with body, unlocks when pulled out. Winding spools inside the body move freely and appropriately by hand (as when loading new film). The shutter button can be pushed down, and springs back up appropriately, but the shutter does not fire at all, either electronically or manually. The winding arm stops at, and will not go past the ~15-degree "on" position and will not wind film. Shutter appears normal and undamaged, camera is in good condition with no dents, scratches, etc. Very clean. Self-timer seems to work properly, as far as setting and canceling the shot. Self-timer does not activate when shutter button is pressed, however. MIrror can be gently pushed ot the "up" position from the open front of the camera (lens off) -- don't know if that is normal or not, my F won't allow it. Clue..? That's about all the relevant symptoms I can think of, other than that all of this behavior is the same with or without film loaded.
Thanks for any and all,
Matt
