Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. I've recently bought a used Nikon FE which shows the following problem: A white line at the bottom of some slides. The line stays within the picture frame. I think the problem is only there with speeds higher then 1/30 sec. Is this caused by bad synchronisation between the two shutter curtains. I think the second curtain starts too slow and catches up with the first curtain after 2 millimeters. Somebody knows this problem?2. From : Mike Strachan (mstrachan@madasafish.com)

Can anyone tell me where to get hold of a shutter mechanism for a Nikon FE2? Mine is broken and Nikon no longer supply! I am ideally looking for a UK source but if not worldwide is fine. Please help me get this camera working again.3. From : John Cunningham (sawdust@worldnet.att.net)

The accessories shoe came off my FE2. Does anyone know where I can have it reasonably repaired in the San Diego CA area? Or is it worth repairing? Thanks in advance for ur input.4. From : Lenin (darcus@eth.net)

How should the brand name 'Nikon' be pronounced. Is the 'i' pronounced like in 'ice'. Thanks.5. From : John (sawdust@worldnet.att.net)

The accessory (flash) shoe came off my FE2. There appears to be screw holes around it. Is this something I want to try and repair myself are does it require a major bench repair? Anyone know where I can get help. Mahalo.6. From : Eric (er72@cornell.edu)

I m experiencing the same problem as many other people..my Nikon FE shutter keeps getting stuck . Setting it on M90 or B releases it, but any other setting just causes the mirror to flip up and never go back down. My light meter is still working, so I know the battery is not to blame, as many people claim this is the problem...7. From : Leo (leocaffaro@hotmail.com)

Regarding the jammed mirror on the FE: it happened to me when using my camera in freezing temperatures. I think that when the small battery's drained out (as happens in the cold) it screws up the shutter timing device. You have to use the Bulb ("B") shutter setting to undo the jam, and then use manual M90 setting until you have a properly functioning battery.8. From : Lenin (darcus@eth.net)

I own a Nikon FE-10 SLR camera with a 35-70mm Zoom-Nikkor Lens attached. As to the aperture control, the stops available in my lens are 3.5, 5.6, 8, 11, 16 & 22. When I use the f-stops 3.5, 5.6 & 8, the results are ok. But when I use the f-stops between 11 upto 22, the results are not very satisfactory. Why is this?
More importantly and surprisingly, f-8 produced a picture with a better depth of field than f-11. Please explain.
Thank you. You may please send your responses to darcus@eth.net
Sincerely,
Lenin

I recently bought a new FE-10 and am having a problem. The takeup spool will not accept more than one sprocket hole of the film leader, hence the film will not wind tightly on the takeup spool as I shoot the roll. The first few shots are okay but soon, because of lack of pressure, the film will not advance more than a half frame at a time (or not at all). I've shot several rolls now with double exposures at the end of each roll. Is there anything I can do to rectify this problem?
