Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. I have a Nikon FE from the 80's. The shutter lever is locked and won't move more than about an inch. I can't seem to figure out how to get it unlocked. Any ideas?? Thanks!2. From : Paul (strangeproportion-blog@yahoo.com)

I am trying to identify an old Nikon Camera I inherited. It probably dates from late 70s to mid-80s. The serial number is FM 2555756. The shutter speeds run B-1-2-4-8-15-30-60-125-250-500-1000. It's all black. Pictures can be found here and here. Can anyone tell me the model number? Much obliged, Paul.3. From : Jorge Godoy-Rojas (sattica@hotmail.com)

I recently purchased a MD-12 motordrive for my Nikon FE2. The motor-drive had batteries in it when I received it. I turned on the drive and hit the fire button on set on S. It did not operate. I attached the camera to the MD-12 and it still did not work. I have changed the 8 batteries and no change in operation, the MD-12 still does not work. There is no sound of charging when I turn on the unit and the red light never comes on. The person I purchased it from said that it was working fine prior to him sending it to me. Is there any fix for this MD-12 that I might try? Thanks--Sam5. From : Duncan (duncan.osborn@gmail.com)

Hey guys, not sure if my other post went through. Does anyone know where I can obtain a type K focusing screen for the Nikon FE? I would like to find an original type K for an old FE that has a horribly dirty focusing screen. Many thanks!6. From : Chris (cpcgmc5790@aol.com)

I have an FE with a MF-12 databack and MD-12 winder. I currently have the CF-29 case which accomodates the winder but not the databack. It fits, but is very snug and of course there is no access to the databack's controls. I know about the CF-15D base, but I'm trying to find out if Nikon ever offered a base which accomdates a camera with both the MF-12 and the MD-12. Thank you.7. From : martin (mach3siemion@yahoo.com)

Never mind the previous Oct. 16 post. I unlatched the hinge pin and opened the back and cleared the jam. Works fine.8. From : martin (mach3siemion@yahoo.com)

My Nikon FE camera has a stuck release knob. This is the combination film rewind knob that takes the film back into the cartridge and when pulled up opens the back of the camera. The film was rewound and then, as usual, unlocked at the adjacent lever tab and pulled up. It did not move the full distance and now is stuck at 0.40 inch up. It will not move back down nor the rest of the travel up. So I can not open the camera back and remove the film. I have owned this camera 25 years and am fully practiced in its operation. No other problems up to now except the protective outer camera case long ago disintegrated. Nikon serial number is FE 3390358. Any suggestions to remedy this stuck release knob problem?9. First - what a useful site. Nice one. I have been given a lovely Nikon FE ( I assume it's an FE the serial number is FE3422....) The problem is that the shutter only returns when I use the M90 setting. There's new batteries in there and on the MF-12 Databack it came with. So far camera shops I have taken it to have said it's not worth repairing without really looking at it. Any ideas??
