Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. For Wyant Lauterman. You now own one of the best manual focus cameras in the business. This camera can take all AI, AIS, AF and AFD Lenses. The very early pre-AI lenses are only excluded. As you browse around this site, you will find a wealth of information, far more than what you could possibly get from the manual. Happy surfing and happy clicking!

I just recently inherited a Nikon FE-2. Unfortunately there was no owners manual with it.

I would greatly appreciate it if one of you knowledgeable individuals could tell me what type of lens this camera takes. I know it doesn't take AF lenses. Does it take AI or AIS. I'm looking for what would be standard for this camera. I'd like to purchace a few extra lenses.

Thanks for your help.

I am in need of a replacement Nikon MC-8 connecting cord which is part of the ML-1 Modulite Remote Control Set. I use it with a Nikon FE equiped with an MD-11/12 motor drive. Ebay searches have not been fruitful. Please email me if you can help. Thanks, Rick

I have bought a secondhand FE2 in very good condition except for the fact that the foam lining is missing when looking through the bayonet mount opening. I am told it is necessary to dampen the mirror slap. I am not sure if leaving it as it is, is impairing my picture quality. I have already tried out a roll and the pictures are fairly acceptable as they are. Can anyone throw some light on it. Thanks.

Hey I bought my fe in shinjuku at some camera pawn shop. It came with a power winder, and a 50mm lens. The thing was that when I had it home for a few days and decided to take off the power winder the manual winder was stiff and grinding the gears a little, so I forced it! thinking I got ripped off. Next I noticed that anterior of the shutter release their was a buldge in the metal, a slight riple, oh yea plus the piece screw onto the shutter release. A big can't miss finger/thumb button that must have caused this outward dent. So I hummed and hawwed, got out the pliers and very slightly bent back the shutter release trigger.
After that the shutter and manual winder have worked great!! No problem, oh yea the power winder works well too, but together weigh like a sherman tank.

To Arthur:
I would not put a third party zoom lens on the Nikon FE. Find either a micro Nikkor 55mm f2.8, or a micro Nikkor 105mm f2.8 AI or AIS configured preowned lens to fit your Nikon FE. Since your wife likes the 140mm zoom capability of her point and shoot, I would strongly suggest the micro Nikkor 105mm f2.8. Both of these lenses are fantastique. You will be constantly surprised by the wonderful photographs that will result. Good Luck, Paul Keyser

I have three Nikon FE's all bought second hand and all giving different exposures, up to now I have set the exposure compensation ring to allow for the differing exposures. Is it possible to re-calabrate the exposure measurment? and how do I do it.

Regards David.

Hi everybody,

I'm so glad to come upon this excellent site. I just bought a used FE2 with serial number 2027942. Grateful if anybody can tell me when is my FE2 produce base on the serial number. My other question seem to be a bit dumb. Can the new SB28 TTL with the FE2? Any inputs is highly appreciated. Thank you.
Hendy
