Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. I am a camera enthusiast and just want to warn other consumers about an online vendor that I you should stay away from. directsource.us consistenly offers very low prices on this camera (and others) and accessories. They perform a classic bait and switch. I have become aware of at least 10 other consumers that this has also happened to. You order the product online, receive an email asking you to call and confirm the order, you call and suddenly the camera is not in stock at the price the website shows (even though it's still listed as in stock). The sales department will then try to sell you the camera with all sorts of accessories at double the original price. It amounts to consumer fraud - and I just want to warn other online shoppers.2. How - an FM10 may be a suitable camera for a beginner but I would recommend a second hand FM as the FM10 is made by Cosina and not Nikon. I have seen enough comments on the lacking quality of the FM10 that I would avoid it altogether. Best regards, Lars

There's are people on ebay that sell manuals for many brands of camera. At least one supplies on CD. I say this because the cost of photo-copying a hard copy will (probably?) be more than the ebay cost. I bought an FE2 repair manual there several years ago. Turned out to be a photocopy but it was all there and has almost served its purpose. I think some of the moral & copyright issues are addressed elsewhere on this site. There are also many manuals available on this website.
This really is an amazing website. Thank you to our host.4. From : GTF (gtfsr@optonline.net)

Steve, Yes the DR3 fits. Buying one? Stupid, (sorry) thats not polite on my part, but. To open the camera back there is a little lever on the film winder that needs to be pushed to popup the rewind lever then pull up on the rewind lever. You'll see.5. From : Jack Roper (jackmroper@aol.com)

Recently purchased a Nikon FE. There was not an instruction manual. Need a source to get the nikon manual or other sources for its use. Found the number for Nikon, but have not reached them yet.7. From : Exer (exdonner@hotmail.com)

It was my understanding the the viewfinder was not interchangable on the FE2. But I very very much stand to be corrected. BTW There are many questions on this board, most seem to go unanswered. If you know the answer to somebodies question, be nice and take a minute to answer them. Gerry exdonner at hotmail dot com8. From : Sinchi Tonooka (stonooka@ieee.org)

Looking for an E or B focusing screen for the FE. The E2 for FE2 is readily available and works with the FE meter Ok for correct exposures but the EV is reduced by one stop. There is a one stop mismatch with an external spot meter and the camera which makes applying spot meter readings awkward. Any help in finding an E screen would be appreciated.9. I have just been given a lovely chrome FE2 with 55mm 2.8 micro lense. I am looking for a right angle viewfinder and wondered if anyone could confirm whether the dr3 will fit my camera. Thanks for your help. Could do with knowing very quickly, Steve
