Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. KC, Set the speed dial to A or anything faster (including) then 1/500 sec. That's accoring to the manual. I verified your problem on my FE2 also and doing as the manual states clears it up. GTF5. From : KC (JormaC@Yahoo.com)

SB-16 w/AS-9 related question. Hello, I've recently acquired an SB-16B for use with my FE-2. I cannot get the unit to function in TTL Mode. (What I mean to say is that when I am in TTL mode W/400 speed film and at a shutter speed of 250, I get a flashing LED in the FE2 viewfinder. I interpret this to mean that either my sync speed is too slow (it's not @ 250) or my film speed is out of range (it's not @400 ASA). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best, KC6. I was thinking of buying a Nikon FE, but the seller says the film counter does not work(He says the rest of the camera works perfectly). What do you think? Is this a fairly common problem, and is it easily repaired ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.7. From : Jintro (Jintro_luna@hotmail.com)

Hi there! I'm selling my Nikon FE to a guy who repairs camera's. My camera has some defects; 2 small scratches on the mirror, the viewfinder is a bit dirty (bc. of this foam around the mirror) and probably most important, at 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000 the shutter sometimes doesn't open (which results in black photos). Does anyone know what price i could ask for it? Thanks in advance, Jintro8. From : JWoods (centurywoods@YAHOO.COM)

Chong, I think when you are referring "my fe2's meter can move" means rotable around which is normal in order to couple with the lens for metering. In this case, "fixed" means the tab is non-retractable. See bottom of this page: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonfeseries/fe/basic8.htm Nikon SLRs from EM, FM2, FE2 and FA (other than the pro cameras of F3 and F4 with the later F5 needs factory modifications) of the '80 have employed a non-retractable meter tab and thus, Nikon SLRs introduced after year 1979 can have only AI lenses or newer series of Nikkor lenses that will couple with the camera metering mechanism. All Non-AI Nikkor lenses needs to be modified to AI specifications in order the metering functions correctly with these AI-SLR bodies (The lenses can still can be mounted onto the camera, except metering info provides by the camera metering circuit may not be correct and further, Nikon warns such attempts may damage the tab on the ring). Cheers !9. From : Chong (tachong@harimic.com.my)

Nelson, The M90 is a mechanical setting so that you can still use the camera if the batteries die. But only at 1/90 sec.
On the FA it would be M250, 1/250 sec.
