Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Hi Nikonholics!! To Kathleen>> I tried a lot of the Nikons they are all very good, but the one i would recommand as a real workhorse is The Nikon F2,this camera is very very strong! much stronger than Fes and other types, besides this,The Old Nikkormat Ft types are also very strong.I use these types frequently simply because they are strong and dependable, specially in very demanding areas which have strong humidity, dust and coldness.! Good Luck with it! ( i have an Fe 2 also which unfortunately broked two weeks ago on my journey to Latinamerica...the F2 didnt.!) Kind regards Christian M Fisker ,Copenhagen Denmark. ::Cph...3. Am using an FE along with a Nikon SB-10 flash unit. I have never had any trouble with either, though I have rarely use the flash. I wanted to take indoor shots today, and changed all batteries in preparation. Battery lights on both the camera and the flash unit all signalled proper functioning. Proper settings were made on the camera. But the flash would not go off at all, regardless of any adjustments and rechecking. This is the first time my Nikon equipment has let me down. What happened?4. From : Tania (forevercantwait@yahoo.com)

I have a very odd question. On my Nikon FE the rewind crank/knob fell off. It cannot be found( it fell into the duck pond at the local zoo) and i was wondering if it is actually possible to find this piece elsewhere. Everything else works perfectly on the camera except now it cannot open because that knob also opens the camera and i love this camera to death. Please any help would be appreciated. thanx5. Couple of things - anyone know of any mail-order houses which can supply an original (or close to it) leather case for a Nikon FE ?? The one I have right now is in very sad shape. I bought my FE in 1981 and am still using it - fabulous, fabulous camera and it takes lovely pictures every time. Superb build quality and so rugged it'll probably last me forever. TIP - if your camera seems to have a busted shutter release, check the Battery! If it's low, it can sometimes cause it to exhibit these symptoms. Many thanks, Scotty6. Hi, I've owned my FE2 since 1986 and I love it, it is fantastic. I want to play around with digital photography but don't want to give up on my FE2. Does anyone know of a digital adaptor or back that I could use with the FE2? A company in California, http://www.siliconfilm.com, makes digital backs for SLR cameras but they only support the Nikon F5. Does anyone know how close size/shape are the F5 and FE2 bodies ? Thanks, Hans8. From : Kev Rosie (kevrosie@hotmail.com)

Does anyone know where I can buy eyepiece covers (the screw-in piece of glass) for my FE/FM. I need one for each. Also, I've recently had the same problem with the shutter freezing and the mirror remaining up - does anyone have a clue what causes this ? Thanks, great site9. From : Tony (WRice@aol.com)

You made a good point when you said assistants in camera shops may have little intrest or knowledge when it comes to mirrors in th FE. I've asked many people about the dark spot when using a telephoto lense( k mirror that came w/ thecamera)Most people want to sell me a new lens when now I know a new mirror (B) will solve my problem. This is a very helpful web site and I am grateful. Thank you10. I bought a used Nikkor-S Auto 1:1.4 50mm that is a 9 on a scale of 1-10 for $50. I was told that a FE body would work with this lense. If I buy a tamron lense will it fit this body or does this mean that I will have a hard time finding additional lenses for this body? I am adding a 2nd body to my outfit that I will shoot solely slide film in.
