Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Dear all, i need the assitance of your expertise on nikon fe. i inherit a nikon fe from my dad few years ago but he passed away before he could teach me how to use it. i do not wish for my fe to die. the normal lens n zoom lens lining has melt down, showing a yellowish effect on the pictures and some wavy lines.i was told it can't be used any more. My SB-10 broke down also. the body still can be used. Can someone kindly advise me what other models of flashlight can i use and what are the kind of lens that i can buy to use for normal photography. your help is deeply appreciated. wing

I have had a Nikon FE for many years, I have not been using it for the last 2 years as I have been using a digital. Recently I tried to use my Nikon FE again but for some reason the button that operates the shutter seems jammed and does not move. I have removed the front leather cover and can operate the shutter by pushing down the shutter mechanism exposed from the front of the camera. I have tried to use the timer to activate the shutter but it does not work. I have also put new set of batteries but still doesn't work. Can anyone tell me what could be the trouble.

Thanks for your trouble

Hi, I just received a Nikon FE and have a problem!! The shutter only releases if I have the speed setting at m90. If I have it at AUTO, 125 or any other setting it locks up, but I can release it if I go to m90 again!! I would like to shoot in other settings but can't...any help would be greatly appreciated....George

Hello, I've recently inherited my father's Nikon FE2. However, both needles were damaged somehow and are both inoperable. Does anyone know of a good repairman within the Longisland area who can repair these components? Thanks

I just purchased an FE, a real deal (I hope) but, it has the mirror stuck in the open position. Have I put my foot in it, or is this a fixable problem for the average camera shop in a smallish town. Any assistance will be appreciated. I have wanted an FTN since I saw my first one in VietNam, about when they were new! So I will start with an FE and move forward. Thanks Bob

A couple days ago I really got lucky! Found a black FE2 at a garage sale for $3 US. Complete with Micro-Nikkor 55mm f2.8 lens. The owner said “I know I can get a lot more for this stuff on Ebay, but it’s too much trouble”. He also sold me a complete Bolex 16mm camera outfit with three lenses for $10. The FE2 body needed a good cleaning, but is fully functional. The lens has good glass, but the aperture was stuck wide open. From what I’ve read, these lenses are particularly prone to lubricant creep. Anyway, I tried a little trick that freed it up. Took the lens off the camera and warmed up the barrel with my wife’s hair dryer, while continually clicking the stop-down lever. After about five minutes the aperture freed up. I kept working the the stop-down lever for another ten minutes or so. The aperture is still working fine today. I suspect that this is only a temporary fix, and I’ll need to have a good CLA done. But maybe I’ll be lucky.

Just bought an FE2 at a garage sale today for $3 US (really!!). Everything seems to work, but having a problem with the lens. It's a Micro-Nikkor 55mm, f2.8. The problem is that I can't change the aperture - it stays wide open. Maybe I'm not doing something right?
