Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Sorry, this is not a comment but a question. The top of my FE is dented. I want to flatten the dent out and the only way I can do this is by taking the top off. Does anyboy have any suggestions on how to do this. I am worried about springs and things shooting out and leaving the mechanism in ruins.

I have experienced a similiar problem to other regarding the stuch film advance on the FE. The mirror is locked up, I tried the manual and B setting, replaced batteries, nothing seems to work. The total symptoms are: mirror locked up, shutter button is non operational and the mirror is locked up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Anthony

Does anyone know if there is a waist-level finder available or that will fit on a Nikon FE or FE2? IF there is, can you let me know it's model number or any suggestions for a place to purchase. Thanks in advance.

I have a Nikon FE2 that has seen little hard use. I have travelled twice now to Europe to find that the film advance lever has jammed at the beginning of the trip. The camera has never been exposed to any jarring in the camera bag, moisture or dust during storage. I has been repaired once, I'm thinking of chukking this lemon for a digital. Has anyone else experienced this kind of failure?

I also have a strange shutter problem with my FE... The time seems to be totally random, when set to eight seconds it might as well be 1/125 or 2 seconds or half a sec. And when set to 1/1000 it might as well be 4 secs or a quarter sec and so on. Also, it seems that the light measurement is broken, it just doesn't measure anything at all, it stays all the way down even when I point the camera right at a 100W lamp. Could this be because the batteries are dead? I haven't tried replacing them yet... They're prolly quite old, I don't think they have been changed the last 25 years :D Even though the camera was barely used, that seems rather old to me. Could that be the source of my problems?
