Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. You may also use this message board as a guestbook for the camera.

Joyce, We can probably repair your Nikon. We give online estimates based on what you tell us -- no estimate fees. And flat fee $8.95 shipping. Yes, I'm affiliated with the company, but I felt it relevent to let you know ... Jay. www.camerarepair.com

Trying to replace a role of film today (01/18/4, in circe 1979 Nikon FE), advanced the winder to position it better for the leader and snapped the shutter. A piece of the leader was briefly grazed by the shutter, after which I cannot advance the winder. Any ideas on what is wrong? It is quite stuck, and I probably incorrectly back spun the winder spool, throwing that out of sync/position when/if it ever frees up ... thx/Paul Brusko

Love my Nikon FE ... I am just an amateur photographer, but I have spent the last 25 years taking pictues with my FE ... now, I need to have someone recommend a good, reliable camera repair business. My camera is not reading that I have a new battery in the battery compartment ... I am not able to receive any metering activity nor will the light indicator read.(don't know what the problem is related to ??) I also need to have the seals replaced ... I can see little black very fine specs of black in my fiew finder (I am thinking the foam seals are needing replacing) I have used my FE hard, but never abused the camera ... just time to have a check-up I suppose ??? I could use some recommendations on who to use for repairs.

The inner dial is the aperture ring. It allows you to select OR alter the aperture values for an exposure. As a good exposure requires combination of shutter speed (controlled by camera section) and aperture (on the lens section). If you are asking such kind of question, I would presume you are new in SLR photography, there are a few links for you to learn about the basic:

You can find most photographic terms at the glossary section as well.

Stephanie the 2.8, 3.5, 5.6 number refers to the F stop. It is the amount of light a lens lets through. The smaller the number the faster the lens. "Lets in more light" Faster lens are easier to focus and are more usefull under low light conditions. They also cost more. George

Help! My Nikon FE2's shutter speed dial doesn't seem to work properly. Some of the speeds (4 second, 2 seconds) doesn't seem to be of the correct duration. Further, the dial's speed doesn't match the internal shutter speed indicator seen through the view finder (the green bar in the view finder). THe internal shutter speed indicator (the green bar) doesn't move sometimes and sometimes it does. Does anyone know how this might be fixed? Much thanks. David

Greetings all. I am just beginning to purchase some equipment and plan to get into wedding photography. One of the guys I will be working for/with said it is important to always get "2.8" lenses, not 3.5-5.6 or anything else. I am curious about what the difference is. What exactly does it mean by a "2.8" lense? Thanks.
