Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Hi! After using F5, F100 and F90X last years, I decided to buy a FE2 to "go back to the roots" in my free work... still using AF SLR models on 35mm assignments... :-) ... The one I got has the following problem similar to what Mike and Dan described: The shutter sticks closed for some reason, and the mirror stays in the up position. The Shutter only works at B and M250, where the shutter does not need electricity... in all other manual set exposure times and in "A" it simply does not open... but the mirror sticks in the upper position... can anyone give some advice, what´s the problem and how to repair it?... does anyone know about some website about tips on repairing Nikon Cameras ? Thanks!4. From : BIFF (BWRS5@AOL.COM)

HELLO, I HAVE OWNED AN FE SINCE 1996 AND JUST LAST WEEK I FOUND
A SECOND LENS AT A SWAP MEET. I MENTIONED TO THE SELLER THAT I WAS GOING TO USE THIS LENS, A NIKOR 43-86 F3.5 ON AN FE AND HE
DIDN'T INDICATE THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM. HOWEVER WHEN I GOT THE LENS HOME AND PUT IT ON THE CAMERA THE APEATURE RING LOCKS UP.
CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS AND WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN SHOPPING FOR FE
LENSES?. I WAS A CANON AND PENTAX USER BEFORE BUT I THINK MY FE
IS ONE OF THE BEST MID-PRICE CAMERAS EVER MADE. THANK YOU.5. From : Kathleen (zb@whro.net)

My wonderful FE Nikon has died. The electronic shutter is kaput and it seems to make more sense to replace it than to repair it. I'm looking for recommendations of the best Nikon model to buy. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE MY OLD LENSES FROM THE FE. Thanks so much for any assistance you can offer!6. From : Link (LinkFilm@aol.com)

I have recently had a similar problem to what Mike described--where the shutter sticks closed for some reason, and the mirror stays in the up position. I haven't actually tried manually opening the shutter and allowing it to close as he described as i fear i may cause damage to my camera. Somebody suggested that moving the shutter speed to M90 or B might cause the shutter to open naturally, but what else might i try?10. Hi there!!
I just bought on eBay a Vivitar flash zoom thyristor 5200.
I noticed that it has a removable base .On the Flash is a Base with
these marks: Vivitar PM/N and a switch for EM and FG.
Can i use it on my FE2 and FM2n ????
Should i buy a new base and where i can buy one for FM2n and FE2?
The FM2n works with A and M flash mode and the FE2 works with A,M,and
TTL.
Thank you,
Dimitris ,
Athens.
