Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Hi there, Wonderful and informative site, congratulations!. Have you any idea where I can get spares for my FE2? In the UK if possible but not exclusively. I need a tiny spring. Behind the lens mount itself there is a long spring which moves along behind a lever when you are altering aperture openings on a lens. (I am not too technical with cameras!). I broke mine whilst cleaning it so any suggeations as to where I can get another one would be a great help. Thanks and best regards. Nick Howell Cornwall England

Does the Nikon C-27 soft molded case fit the FE with a normal lense? My case has about disintegrated and I am having difficulty finding a replacement. Thanks. Greg

Hi everybody,

I would really appreciate your kind and wise advice. My Nikon FE2 camera shutter blade would not return back to its position after the shutter button ios pressed/release. I mean the shutter blade hang just like when you are taking bulb setting. Sometime it work perfect but after 2 or 3 frames it slow down and sometime completely hang up. It happen even when using manual mode/no battery M250 setting.

I suspect the shutter mechanism have problem because I believe the battery is still ok. The metering all work OK. I'm afraid my worst nightmare come true because I just bought a used older Vivitar 285 flash(non HV). Upon reading and checking today I learnt that it produced a high voltage which could damage the circuit of the camera. What a foolish thing to do. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you .

Hendy

I recently dug up an old FE. I found that when I go to take a picture at any speed other than B or M90, the shutter closes & doesn't reopen. The first thing I did was replace the batteries & verified that they were good by checking battery test lever located on the camera back just below the rewind knob. I got a clear red light. The second symptom I have is when the frame adv. lever is open, the black needle in the view finder doesn't move. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have been using the Nikon FE and FE2 cameras for several years. I think the FE2 is the very best camera Nikon ever manufactured. It has the best TTL features and is very fast even by today's standards. This camera can be set in automatic mode and will do all the setting for you excepy focusing and aperature. As long as you have the film speed set correctly, this camera will set the shutter speed to match any aperature setting you set. This camera will also let you be in complete control and set everything as you want it so you can get creative. Who could ask for anything more? Auto focus is no fun, and digital cameras are too grainy. Film is the best medium around and the FE2 is the best camera to make film a medium for art.

I have an old Nikon body, serial # FE 3199810, however the camera does not say FE on the front. Only the word NIKON appears.

I am assuming that this is an FE model, but I am not sure.

I would like to verify the model and obtain a lens for this camera. Thank you
