Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Chris, Sounds like your lens is the AF 70-300 f/4-5.6G, which is NOT compatible with manual focus bodies. The only thing you can do about it now is to get a refund or sell it. If a 70-300 zoom is what you really want, then the one to get is the 70-300 f/4-5.6 D (take note the "D"). That one comes with the aperture ring and will allow proper metering and full aperture control on your FE.2. From : GTFsr (GTFsr@yahoo.com)

Rui, if you don't mind. What did you pay for your FE2? US$'s if possiable. I am planning to sell my FE2, MD12 and a 105/2.5 telephoto with an additional focusing screen. I'm not really intersted in doing the E-bay thing. Thanks George3. From : Rui Nogueira (ruinog@yahoo.com)

I've bought an used FE2 at an Ebay auction and I love it. Best camera I ever had (and I've a lot). I strongly recommend you all the folowing nikkor AI or AIS lenses: 24mm F:2.8; 35mm F:2; 50mm F:1.8 (even the cheaper series E is very good) and the very best of all, 85mm F:2 I have them all and that's all I need. Never use again those horrible plastic standard AF zooms. I bought an used N8008 (or F801 in Europe) because this AF body accepts AI and AIS lenses as a backup to the FE2 and also because it has a better viwefinder but when my FE2 will die I will get a FM3a, of course. Regards and let's take some pictures. Rui, Lisbon, Portugal4. From : Chris (sdlongboarder@hotmail.com)

I have a Nikon FE. Bought a 70-300mm AF zoom lens. I took a roll of film and almost all of the pictures where severely under-exposed. What am I doing wrong? I have noticed that this lens does not have aperature adjustment on it. Is there anything I can do to use this lens or did I get burned at the camera shop? I'm a beginner and appriciate any help.5. I purchased a Nikon FE 3708395 that I thought was working ok and sold it on eBay but the buyer returned the camera stating that the focus would not work. From what Little I know about cameras he appears to be correct. The "grip" ring seems turn very hard like it is slipping and the focus does not seem to change. What do you think is the problem and is there anything I can do other than take in for repair.7. From : Rich (raldencopley@aol.com)

FE folks: I just bought a used FE that is exhibiting a strange problem maybe some of you folks have encountered: When I flip the DOP lever, the mirror flips up and locks. It releases when I turn the shutter speed dial to M90. I read through several descriptions/directions, including this site, and can't find anything about this, though I admit I could have missed something. Other than that, I'm loving this camera. Peace, Rich8. From : Eric (azbaja@earthlink.net)

Hello All: I need advice on where to send my 2 Nikon FE camera's for repairs. Parts can be scarce, so a repair shop that has a strong parts inventory may improve my chances. Shutter sticks producing 1/2 frame pictures (new shutter?), needs film rewind lever repaired (spring missing), a new body top (black) that is bend around flash foot and viewfinder. Would also want to have thoroughly cleaned. I have enjoyed Nikon FE since I bought new some 22 years ago, would want to restore and keep them for life. Can anyone send me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me.10. Hi George Thanks for answering. I'm not sure what I am looking for. I saw 10 Blue Herons basking in the sun about 100 yards away from me and decided that I want to learn how to shoot with a tele-photo lens. I did ask a guy at a camera store but he tried to sell me a $3,000 lens. I guess I want something that will work for the above if possible and will not make me sell my first born to purchase it.......mind you selling my first born is not such a bad idea!! I am a beginner at all this so really appreciate anything you can teach me about it. Cath
