Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. While using my trusty FE2 last week, I noticed that when I partially
depressed the shutter, the meter needle would move, but then
immediately jump back down, instead of waiting the usual 16 sec. This
happened about four times, then the meter stopped working, and the
shutter stopped, only works in manual 250/sec....I replaced the
batteries, opened it up to see if anything looked unusual, and nothing
changed....I've also noticed that the batteries seem to drain, even
when the camera is just sitting, with everything off.
So, the question is, is this fixable? Did I blow something electronic, or is it probably just a cleaning that is needed?

The battery light on my FE comes on when the camera is off but when I turn on the camera (with the film advance lever) the battery light goes off. My exposure meter is not working nor are any shutter speeds beyond M90 and B. It seems like a switch has gone bad. Any ideas of how to remedy this problem?3. From : Jess (jackass36@hotmail.com)

Ok i have a question!!! my dad just gave me his old Nikon FE, i think its a 79 or 78, not too sure, but it hasnt been used in years, and im not very informed on cameras, i know the basics, but something seems to be closed in the lens, all i see is black, and the shutter button is very lose, it dosent click down and i dont even see the meter inside!! (old battery?), i think maybe i should go get it repaired, but if anybody has any info for me, on what the problem could be, i would greatly appreciate it!!! (oh and yes the lens cap is off!! :) my dads not really a big help here!!!!4. From : Scott (scottyzen@yahoo.com)

To: Tim Cooper,
Yes it is an AI lens you can use this on your camera. If You would like further information you can review at a site that will soon be launched. A quick reference for serial number for the AI-spec 16mm lens was believed to have started from 178051

Aloha,
I have an FE/2 and have dented the metal housing on the upper portion and find that the damage has hindered the ASA wheel from functioning. In my estimation I will require a replacement upper metal housing.
Is there a site that I can access for replacement parts such as this?
Thanks so much for you assistance.

Hi all--just got a freebee F2, black with a Nikkor 50 mm/f2 lens from the father-in-law and I'm just getting familiar with it--I need a part: the rewind lever is missing; I scrounged one from an old Nikkomat and it works, but it's not "correct." I'm an old Minolta SRT-101 user and this camera is a real step up, even for its age-! Anyone know of a good Internet source for parts /accessories (like a rubber viewfinder hood) -??
Thanks--Buzz
