Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Hi - A few days ago, my beloved Nikon FE-2 fell onto hard ground when my arm was jostled while taking a picture. The only visible damage that I can see is that the ASA ring has been pushed in on one side (and raised on the other)- the camera landed on its top left corner, where the ASA ring is located. The ASA ring cannot be moved. Also, the shutter operates only at the M250 setting. But I think that is because of what has happened to the ASA ring. There is no damage to the rest of the body or to the lens. So, I had/have some hope that the body could be repaired easily. I sent the unit in to Nikon (Melville, NY), but they have said that they cannot repair it because they dont have replacement parts anymore. I cannot see myself using any camera other than this one, which I have had for over 15 yrs, and I desperately want to get this camera fixed. Can some kind soul recommend a high-quality and trustworthy repair facility that will restore my camera to its previous condition? A recommendation based on personal experience is greatly appreciated. Please send your reply by email to: skbc1@hotmail.com

hi all, i just got a nikon fe that was my mothers. i have shot about 5 rolls, and on each roll there are several exposures that are completely blank, as if the shutter didnt fire or something. on each of the rolls there were lots of different light conditions, some at night some in the sunlight, that appear to be blank. could this be a shutter speed thing, where one setting isnt working. or maybe a random mirror sticking thing. i have taken it to a reputable shop and they said it checked out fine, so any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks in advance skye

I JUST got a used Nikon FE2 off ebay and it seemed in great condition unil i was advancing and shooting on different speeds, when i put it on M250 i think it started messing up. Now when it is set to a shutter speed of anything other than M250 or B, it advances but when i press the shutter release it lifts the mirror but without opening the shutter, then the mirror will not go down untill i turn the speed back to M250... i bought new batteries but that didn't do anything.. please HELP!

Hello all. I have an FE that is about 20 years old; I've just recently taken it out of storage (for the past few years). The shutter sticks (the mirror stays up) while set to automatic. It drops/closes when the speed dial is moved off automatic. I have been told that the problem is a damaged timer circuit that is controlled through the main FPC (whatever that is). I have also been told that the part is no longer available. Does this make sense? Is my favorite camera really beyond repair? Any assistance, including referrals to competent repair shops would be appreciated. FrankB Phila., PA
