Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. I recently bought a second hand Nikon FE. In the beginning i was very satisfied with it (easy to use for a starting photographer, etc...), but then when i had my film developed it turned out that about half of the pictures just were black (randomly spread over the film). Does anyone know by what this is caused?? I'm pretty sure it is not the shutter that gets stuck (like a friend of mine thought). Is it possible that i do soemthing wrong while loading the film?? Thanks in advance for your help...5. From : Martin (sonybirds@yahoo.com)

I have an FE camera and recently broke the rewinding device. I guess a small pin came off and I can not rebuild the rewinder. Where can I buy a replacement like this or a replacement rewinding device? Thanks!6. From : Nadin (eden_nadin@yahoo.de)

Hi,
I just got a second hand Nikon FE10, but unfortunately without a manual. Does anyone know, where I could get a manual from?
Thanks.

I need some help. I have a FE2 and it no longer stops when I advance the film. I live outside of Geneva Switzerland, and I took it to a camera shop where the gentleman examined it and told me that the shutter was broken and the cost of repair exceeded the value of the camera body. I'm headed to Africa next month and need to decide very soon if fixing is worthwhile. I plan on seeking a second opinion before I make any decision. Any insights, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. When I asked about an auto-winder, he said it wouldn't work without a functioning film "stop."8. From : Mike Finch (mike@sandfproducts.com)

I have a Nikon FE. It sat unused for some time when i picked it up it worked for a while then suddenly the film advance would not work, it jammed and the shutter release when pressed did nothing. this is the second time this happened to me. I went through the standard battery replacement etc. the first camera i sent to a shop and they gave up so i bought this one. well last night i fixed it. open the back of the camera there are two sets of shutters that expose the film when the shutter is snapped(I am obviously not a camera expert), anyway the first set is near the lens the second set seems to be set by the film advance. turns out somehow the second set was not snapping back into place strong enough to snap the shutter and so it would never release. Very carfeully with my finger i lowered the second shutter held it down then release it with a snap wala the thing worked. I cycled it several times and it jammed again a few times but i have to believe with use it will loosen up again. this camera has been completely useless for 5 years thank goodness it is up again.9. Allard: Does it occur to you that may be the eyepiece has some power ?? Unless you are ALWAYS shooting pictures with your lenses wide open (or shooting at real close distance or always the error comes from a long telephoto lens used), stopping the apertures from their maximum values often will increase the depth of field which in return should "cover" the slight focusing error. Since you have mentioned one of the lens was a wideangle 28/2.8E, if your conclusion is still narrow down to focusing shift cause by the split image, it will be a GREAT focusing error. Well, you don't need to run a series of test just to find out, just focus on any object and check visually if the distance scale on your lens used coincides with your in-focused subject. Lastly, if you are still very uncomfortable and since the focusing screens in your FE is interchangeable, just change the screen if you like. Cheers.
