Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. You may also use this message board as a guestbook for the camera.

Hi, I am looking to get a manual camera, and am deciding between the FE2 and the FM2N. I am new to photography, can someone tell me what the practical differences between these two cameras are? I understand that the FE2 uses an electronic shutter release, is that the only difference? I don't plan on being in extreme weather environments that would debilitate the battery of the FE. Are there other differences? Weight? Size? Recommendations? Durability? Please email me at kristina@californiahost.com. Thanks!

The exact quotation from the "Specifications" chapter of the original NIKON-FE10 manual: "Film speed range: ISO 25 to 3200, in 1/3 steps with lock (ISO 100, 400 (red) in manual mode)". Does it mean that in manual mode no other film speed can be used? But it looks like working normally with other settings as well. Who knows what did they mean exactly?

Does the FE2 have diopter adaptors for eyeglass users like the FM3a? In affirmative case is it possible to use the addaptors from the FM3a?

I've found that my vision is changing slightly and I'm finding it tougher to use a manual camera. Would a different focussing screen help (I believe I have the split screen type in my FE) and which screen would you recommend? I find that at times the lower screen goes black and then it becomes impossible for me to focus. Or do I need to just use auto focus cameras. Thanks, Robin

Hi, I have a strange little problem with my Nikon FE. Every time I place fresh batteries inside, after 1 or 2 days (even when not taking any photos) they are completely drained out. This has happened several times and I can't figure out why. I always make sure that the film lever is pushed down when not taking photos to avoid the film meter using up battery power. But still the same thing happens every time and fresh batteries last max 2 days. If anyone could help me out I'd be really grateful. P.S. As a spam preventing measure I've secured my email adress displayed in this message. If you reply to me via email, please replace ".INVALID" with ".pl" Thanks!
