Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. One more thing. I prefer Nikon lens. Nothing wrong with good used lens. I practice what I preach. GTF2. From : GTF (gtfsr@optonline.net)

For Renee A smaller F stop number is faster lens. It lets in more light. The faster the lens the easier it is to focus as it lets in more light. The reason they are heaver is because large pieces of glass weigh more then smaller pieces of glass. They also cost more. The difference can be important to you. GTF3. Hello FE experts, I own an FE with the following problem: The film advance lever has been forcefully turned by somebody a second time. It moves freely now without any effect, one can, however, advance the film by using a coin on the winder coupler at the bottom plate. I want to get it back into working condition. I unscrewed the advance lever. The pivot to which the lever is attached is loose. Peeping down through the pivot there is a small screw deep inside the pivot. When I use a screwdriver on this screw, I can advance the film. Does anybode have an idea how to go on now? Can I replace the pivot somehow? All help is appreciated! B. Steinar

Hi there, I bought my FE new in 1981 with the 50 mm lens and a 105 lens. After all these years I want to purchase a telephoto zoom. I would like to take some nature shots , elephant seals, birds, etc, more up-close Can you explain, what is the difference between a F stop say 4.6-5.6 versus a F/ 3.2- ? I am considering a 70-210 Nikkor F zoom lens, will it fit? What is compatiable with my FE? Should I consider a marco zoom, or a 70-300 zoom ? What do you recommend in a telephoto zoom? Do you recommend New or used?? The old ones seem so HEAVY? The camera shop was trying to talk me into a Sigma. I really eant to stay with a Nikon Thanks Renee5. From : bc (bcho99@yahoo.com)

On my FE2, the entire rewind assembly popped off and the shaft dropped down into the camera body. How do I get the film door open? Help. I seem to remember a similar post, but can't find it? Thanks6. From : tom (thas1@le.ac.uk)

Hi, Am having a bit of a problem with my FE. When I mount the lens (Nikkor 50mm 1/1.8) and it has clicked into place, the aperture is maximal, as I believe it should be, but it cannot be adjusted. The aperture adjustment ring can be turned but nothing actually happens to the blades. Any advice? Tom7. From : sean (snoll@dircon.co.uk)

To Michael: I just got an FE last week, and have a 35-70 f3.3-4.5 zoom that I'really pleased with. Gives me a little wide-angle and short zoom that works well with the FE's "Auto" setting. The lens was quite reasonable, too (about $125 in near-mint condition).
To Saeid: I got my FE (chrome) off eBay for about $115. The only problem I see is I'll have to replace the light seals and mirror cushion, but that's no big deal. I just bought another, in black, for around $150. Check some online camera stores and compare prices. (I know some folks have had trouble with stuff bought on eBay, but I've had good luck with everything I've purchased for the past couple of years. Just read the descriptions and note the condition before bidding. Most ebayers are pretty good at detailing any problems, and both my FE and FM, and the 35-70 zoom have not been disappointments! Good deals can be had if you're careful.)9. From : Marco (gxkfrp@tin.it)

I don't think there would be any problems to manufacture a ring that would make it possible to control the aperture on a G-type lens attached to an FE. Has anyone heard of such a thing, and where can I get one?
