Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. You may also use this message board as a guestbook for the camera.

Thank you for maintaining this very informative website! I too have owned various Nikon SLR's, and the FE and FE2 have always been superb workhorses. It was only after they were stolen, I switched to digital. I'm now quite happy with my D70, but I still do have serious reservations about AutoFocus. The point is, these new cameras really are not usable with older lenses anymore, because a. the older focusing screens are better for manual focusing and b. you lose all exposure metering. In fact, using a PB6 bellows attachment with a D70 is almost impossible.

I would greatly appreciate it if Nikon would build a digital version of the FM3, i.e. a camera with the FM3 features but with a 6 or 8 megapixel, 24x36 format CCD or CMOS sensor. Given the huge number of older Nikkor lenses (AI, AIS, and earlier non-CPU AF lenses), there certainly would be a market for such a camera.

Question: On my FE10 I have an intermittent problem. Part way through a film I can wind on and on but cannot release the shutter to take a photo - as if the camera thinks that it's not wound on - Nikon couldn't find a problem - but there is ! Anybody encountered similar ? Solutions ?

Help. I need substitute rear curtain sync for my FE2 and FM2. i.e. A delay device or a remote hand operated trigger kind of like a car door remote. Here is what I want to do. I want to take a low light several second exposure of me and my family against a background that is cool, with the flash going off at the end (rear curtain) to expose the people nicely. I thought of setting the FE2 to "A" setting which would probably? correctly expose for several seconds, but introducing the flash to this arrangement (at the beginning as normal) would halt the several second element, thus shipwrecking the whole thing, Any ideas? thanks.

I have a Nikon FE whose back (left side) does not close tightly.
It is an intermittent problem as some pictures have flaring, some negatives show light exposure between the spocket holes and between the frames.
Does anyone know how to tighten the closure or a good repair person.
Many thanks.

I am the proud owner of a NIKON FE2, however the first lens got broken, and now I have a VIVITAR SERIES 1 70-210 MM attached to the camera body, I am not a pro, not even a semi-pro and I would like to know If the camera performs the same with this type of lens or do I have to follow an entirely different direction? I know there is something called stop down metering but this procedure is somewhat difficult due to some sequels left by a stroke, that is I only can use one hand to operate the camera. Any info will be most welcome, since I have to shoot some plants and don't know how.
thanks Enrique

To those who may be interested: The new Nikon F5 site is opened for preview now:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/NikonF5/index.htm
The section has included some newer AF Micro-Nikkor optics at the MACRO segment (lacks good macro photos to bright up the pages, but I am talking to some for contributions). A dedicated Message Board is also provided. Enjoy.
