Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. I have an old FE with a hot shoe that doesn't seem to be working. I read on this site that the flash might have screwed up the circuit board.
Has anyone ever taken the circuit borad out? I tried to get the top off the camrea but can't figure out how to get the knobs off.
does someone have a sevice manual?
Thanks2. From : Ivan Fojas (malmon@edsamail.com.ph)

I have an old FE2 at home which was fine until recently when all my pictures started having thin black lines on the topmost portions. I suspect a "leak" in the casing which lets light in through the top during exposure. Anybody have ideas on how to fix this or what causes this? Thanks in advance!3. From : Terry (tlcheek@aol.com)

Thank you for helping me resolve my Nikon FE's problem. A couple of years ago the camera led quit working- I replaced the battery and thought I cleaned the terminals. It still wouildn't meter. I took it to a local repair shop where I was told it would have to be sent to L. A. for repairs. They later called and said it would be $200 to fix it. I told them to just send it back. After finding the website on Nikon's I read through it and did a thorough cleaning of battery and terminal connections. Guess what- it works fine now.... Just used an eraser on all contact points and all was well. Thanks again.4. From : Hermann Graf (hermann.graf@basf-ag.de)

To Andrea: Since the Tamrax flash (which I am not familiar with) is a third party flash, it is not sure whether the hotshoe has the same additional contacts needed for TTL operation with Nikon cameras. Normally, third party flash producers offer dedicated adapters to connect their flashes with cameras of the different manufacturers. The SC-17 from Nikon will not necessarily help you in this respect. Normally, only no-TTL flash operation can be done.5. From : Andrea (atatto@galactica.it)

I have bought an used FE2 and I am very happy of it.
I own a Tamrax TTL flash and I would like to use it off-camera.
Can anyone suggest the right cable for the FE2?.
Is the SC-17 the rihgt one?
Thanks in advance, Andrea6. From : Arthur (alralr@gte.net)

Jerry,
Many thanks for the information. Do you have any thoughts regarding the Tamron AF28-200mm Super Silver F/3.8-5.6 LD aspherical (IF) zoom lens, model 271D compared to the Super II Macro My local store offered an excellent price on it, and I still can get the Tamron discount. However, when checking the web I noted that it has not received the same quality evaluation as the Super II so I am not certain whether to get it.
My needs are relatively simple. For several years my FE sat in the drawer because my wife prefers to carry
our point and shoot with a 140zoom. While very convenient, I don't find it much fun to use. However, lugging
around the old FE with several lenses didn't make sense (I have a 1.4 50mm Nikon lens plus a very old Vivitar
80-200. A 28-200 seems like it could be an all purpose lens for travel purposes. Does the Tamron do an
adequate job?
Thanks for the assistance.

NIKON FE WINDER PROBLEM
Hello. I enjoyed reading theFE site as I have 2 Nikon FEs. I would like to ask the advice of other camera buffs on what winder to use other than the MD-11 or MD-12. I see a lot of aftermarket winders around but I am told they willonly fit the FM2 and FE2 - not the FE. I wonder why? Is this true? I believe the bottom contacts of an FE and FE2 are the same so why wouldn't these aftermarket winders (usually made in HK) work on my FE? Please advice.

Re Nikon FE and Tamron zoom====Arthur---The FE will automatically compensate for any aperture changes as long
as you are the using aperture priority mode. That's
the beauty of the camera and the purpose of aperture
priority. Don't worry, and good shooting. If you have any questions e-mail me. Jerry
