Modern Classic SLRs Series : |
I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Hi all, I bought a 50mm f/1.2 for my FE. Now what I noticed is that when the shutter is cocked, the lever that lets the lens stop down ( during exposere or when th eDOF button os pressed) moves a little bit. This causes the lens to stop down to something between f/1.2 and f/1.4 (except when the aperture is set to f/1/2 of course). Is this normal? Or is it a defect of compatibility problem?
Same happens with this lens on my F2AS. But it does not occur on a F70 or D70. Anybody knows what's going on? Regards, Jaap Meiresonn Regards2. From : Nick Tilley (nicktilley@oakley2029.freeserve.co.uk)

I have recently been troubled with intermittent problems with the light meter to my FE2 and wonder whether there are any suggestions before I take it in for repair. Occasionally when I 'unhitch' the wind lever I cannot get any life out of the meter (new batteries have not solved this). The battery bay is clean and this is getting irritating - a few attempts or a gentle tap of he camera base usually restores normal service. I have heard that the electrics can be a bit iffy at times - is it easy to remove the base-plate to check for obvious loose wire?3. From : miao (miao@parsons.edu)

My Nikon fe slr light meter seems to be stuck at 60/125 and will not move off of this setting. I have tried changing the batteries but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas as to the problem? Thanks.5. From : Nathan (nathan@nathangriffin.com)

I have very much enjoyed exploring this site and am thankful that I have been able to use the descriptions of the cameras and equipment to learn about my first SLR. My trusty FE2 did not come with the instructions; I have gained all the necessary operation instructions, and more, from the documentation here. I hope people will continue to use vintage Nikon gear - it brings me great satisfaction to be getting so much use from mine.6. From : Francis (francisd1@optonline.net)

I am a recreational shooter with a Nikon FE2. After replacing the camera battery (with a single 3V) the camera will still only function in M250 or B mode. I have cleaned the battery and battery compartment contacts with a pencil eraser and a soft cloth. I have reset the mirror. When I partially depress the shutter release, the meter needle quivers almost imperceptibly, but does not function; nor will the mirror reset (except in M250 or B mode). I brought the battery back to the store and had it tested. Apparently, it has a full charge. What else can I do? Does anyone know what's wrong? How can I fix it?7. I'm looking to get back into photography after 15 years away. My last rig was a OM2n with a 35 and 85 as standard lenses. My question is...does the FE2 accept a larger range of accessories than the first generation FE? I plan on basic photograhy with three to four lenses tops, and a basic flash. Does the FE accept AIs lenese as well? Thanks in advance, EP.

Added information to my previous question about my FM in the locked state. The frame counter is set to "s". I did try pushing the manual release to roll back the film as well. I have tried several rolls of film thinking that might change things, but no soap. Still lost, Thanks Martin
