Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. You may also use this message board as a guestbook for the camera.

Aurelio, my camera locked up too and it was very upsetting as I am newbie to photography and not technically minded at all, so I was preparing to bring it to a repair shop and pay a hefty fee. I read your post, tried setting my camera to M90 and voila, my problem was solved. So thanks for mentioning that in your post!

Aurelio, I had this happen on an FM2. What had happened was that the frame that holds the focusing screen in place had unlatched and the mirror could not make its full upward movement. This temporarily locked the camera up. I took a plastic stylus for a Palm Pilot and carefully pushed the frame back up into the latched position, which restored everything. Be very careful not to slip and contact the mirror. Good luck.

Aurelio - You may be able to unjam your camera by pulling down the mirror while manipulating the DOF lever. Also see

Hello, I have a Nikon FE that seemed to be in very good condition until now. But suddenly the lever rewind is stuck, the mirror is locked up and the shutter release doesn’t work. The batteries are ok and I’ve tried the manual mode M90, but it still doesn’t work. I’m not sure, but maybe the camera got stuck by pressing the shutter release botton while pressing the depth-of-field preview lever. Any help please.

Mark Hargreaves I had one of those flashes at one time and If I remember some what Yes the Vivitar does work correctly with that camera. From what I read about the SB25 it should work just fine on the FE2. I have no first hand experence with it, just from read about it from Nikon.

I just purchased a used Nikon FE and I am not sure of what all the various dials and buttons do - is there a diagram, or old user's manual available?
