Modern Classic SLRs Series :
Nikon FE Series SLR camera models - Message Board/Guestbook

I have my admiration for some of the selective models within the Nikon FE Series. It is sad to realise Nikon doesn't understand what we are looking forward to at times in a SLR body. As the FE series models (Other than the FE-10) have long being discontinued. You may use this site for common support and sharing mutual knowledge or experiences among yourself. Dale---your 28-80 af SHOULD work. It's not a G lens as far as I know. Perhaps you have the aperture locked at the minimum ? Check your lens owners manual, there is usually a little bbutton or slide on the lens to unlock it from the minimum aperture and allow you to rotate the aperture ring. Good luck & let us know----Jerry

Dear Dale, there is a gentleman named "Kenneth MP" who posted a very good explanation relating to the two NEW G-series lenses by Nikon: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/messageboard/fmseriesmsg/index.php3 I have been to this site for the last 3 years and it may possibly needs to update some of the content especially with some of these funny and confusing decision adopted by Nikon.

This is a very nice web site for vintage cameras. I just purchased a like new FE2 camera because of this site. I have found the manual listing and copied that. I'm confused however about what lenses will work. This site says that any AF NIKKOR will work but my 28-80 AF NIKKOR doesn't. It's a D lense and perhaps that's the problem. On manual I can't even change the f stops. And I can't use my non AI lenses so I guess I need AI lenses, correct? With all the talk about shutter troubles I'm getting cold feet. Please help. Thanks in advance, Dale

I plan to purchase an FE for my daughter's birthday. Can I use AIS lens with it? And if so does
their use require any special setup?

Tom

I just purchased my first FE2 in like new condition. QUESTION ? This camera does not have a honey combe shutter. Every document I have seen shows the camera with the HC shutter. Can any one help me on this? Did NIKON make this with a flat shutter similar to the FE?
