I was given an old Nikomat camera (i think it is a ft2 as compare to the info the site given here). The issue on the Ai- non ai stuffs is confusing. Q: Can my camera use the old nikkor (manual focus) ? as they are so much cheaper at ebay now. Tks.2. From : lazaro (che_revolution@hotmail.com)

I own an FTn Nikkormat and am in need of a replacement leather wrap and leather bottom (i.e. holster) that screws in place. Any suggestions on a reputable source?
Thank you kindly,

Discovered something interesting about the FTn's... Bodies with the 35xxxxx serial number range do not have the threads for the AR-1, AR-2, and AR-4 cable release/soft shutter release button accessories. Those same bodies will only couple to f/22, unlike the bodies in the 36xxxxx serial range.
Also changed the Nikkormat fleet around a bit. The FT2 has become a Nikomat, mainly because the nameplate from the black parts FTn was better. The chrome 396xxxxx FTn has become parts. Also added a Nikomat FT, plus two parts Nikkormats (one FT and one FTn).5. From : John Marganski (druvnik@yahoo.com)

This is embarassing: after 35 years of owning/using an F, 20 years with an FM, I bought a Nikkormat EL last summer and have forgotten EVERYTHING about it-at least I remembered where the battery was hidden!! Can anyone PLEASE scan theirs and send it to me?? My Nik's S/N is :75430396. From : Missy Gardner (seyella06@yahoo.com)

I was just given a Nikkorex F 35m camera. It looks pretty old. I think it's the one made in 1962. Where can I find out how much it's worth, and accessories?7. From : John Laughlin (volvo242gt@blarg.net)

Just recently rejoined the Nikkormat fold. Have a black FT2 (#51931xx) that's fairly well-worn, but fully functional, except for the usual jumpy meter problem... Also have a chrome Nikomat FTn (#39658xx) that needs a full overhaul. When the shutter speed ring is at 1/15 or higher, the shutter fires at bulb, unless I use the self-timer. Below, it'll fire normally, if I quickly depress the shutter release. So, something's gummed up, or when the camera suffered the impact damage on the rewind side of the top cover, something got misaligned.
Previous Nikkormats have been three chrome FT2's, another black FT2 (a Nikomat version), a black FTn that was a parts body, and three other chrome FTn's. Also had a chrome FT3 for about a week, before I went back to an FT2.

I recently acquired a Nikkormat EL, the batteries were dead when I got it so I recently had them replaced. The light meter and auto mode work perfectly. The problem I'm having comes when I try to use the set shutter speeds. When it's set to anything other that auto, the shutter opens and the mirror swings up but won't close again. Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.9. From : Jay McPhail (duncanmcphail@gmail.com)

I've been using my early model black Nikkormat FTn for years, along with an early 85mm f/1.8 non-ai lens. just wondering on the rarity of the black early models. still works great though.10. Hi Rick:
I think the FT2 is the best of all Nikkormats: hot shoe, modern silver-cell meter circuit and compatible with AI and Non-AI lenses.
The black gunk was originally polyurethane foam, placed there to prevent light leaks. It's not harmful, but the fact that the foam has deteriorated this badly (not at all uncommon at this age) suggests that you may have light leak problems.
There are a number of people who offer kits to replace the light seal foam. One of the best in my opinion is Jon Goodman, who can be reached at jon_goodman@yahoo.com and sells on eBay under the name "Interslice". A complete kit costs $10 or less and will do more than one camera.
