I just bought a Nikkormat and would like to know how old it is. The serial number is FT 4557151. Does this mean it is an FT made between 65 and 67? I guess it does but it could be a red herring. Any ideas? Also, can anyone tell me what the three F stops (5.6, 2.8, 1.2) on the left of the camera (when looking at it from above) are? email me at damiangriff@yahoo.com please. Thanks.2. Today is Fathers day and although Dad died over 4 years ago, I miss him every day. He loved Nature and while I was still a little girl, he gave up hunting with a gun to stalk nature with his camera. Yesterday my daughter found Dad's beloved Nikkormat FT2 in the back of the closet. She loves photography and Nature. I was frustrated because I couldn't figure out how to open the back, set the ASA etc. Imagine my great joy when I found your site this morning! We're off to the store to purchase a new battery and then we're off to photograph flowers and butterflies. Today I'll miss my Dad a whole lot, but I know Dad would be so happy to know that his Granddaughter and his trusty Nikon Camera are out "capturing" the beauty and wonder of Nature.3. Need Help - Stuck Lens (FT-2)
I have a Nikkormat FT-2 with a 50 mm Nikkor-S lens - my lens is stuck and I can't remove it.
I hadn't used it in 5 years or so and was showing it someone the other day - I went to remove the lens and it's now stuck! I can't get it off - the locking pin is towards the left side of the camera (looking from front), and the aperture is stuck between f 11 & 16. I've tried the lens release button, turning the aperture ring (it won't turn), jiggling the lens, etc.
Any hints? I can't use the camera right now -
Please respond directly to my e-mail (and to the forum to help others, too!).4. From : Brian Kuehn (kuehn@mtco.com)

I have a Nikkormat FTn that is in need of an advance lever and cover bolt. Otherwise I need to part the camera out. I have all the parts including the screw-in eypeice accessory holder with hot shoe, film advance mechanism, working, and misc. other parts.
I would like to know first if there is anybody that wants to sell the camera body or lever mechanism, I would like to fix the camera.6. From : larrybud (larrybud@freemail.ch)

I have a Nikkormat FTn in which the frame counter does not function. Does anyone have a clue if this is a problem that I can fix ? Also how stiff should the mirror lock-up lever be ?
On mine it takes quite an effort to move.
Any suggestions or comments highly appreciated.

I have a Nikormat (from Japan) FTN that I have owned for over 25 years. I am looking for an eye piece for this camera - one that screws in and holds an accessory shoe. I would be very grateful for any help in locating where I might purchase one. Thanks. Jeff Taylor8. From : Jerry W. Turner (JTWARDOG@aol.com)

I just unearthed a Nikkormat FT2 from my father-in-law's basement. He found it in a state park, and does not know if it works. It seems to be in good shape, but no one in the family knows a thing about photography. As I have always wanted to learn photography, I found this site and have gotten some information but would also welcome ANY other information or resources (like a detailed instruction manual for amateurs?) that could further help me determine it's condition & how to operate. Thanks in advance!
