Hi Ron:
I'm afraid the only source for parts for these old birds is going to be another old bird, and one in good enough shape to donate a set of good top and bottom covers is probably worth keeping intact. Why not just leave them as they are and pass them down that way? Gives them a bit more character anyway, I think........

Would anyone know or recommend where to find parts for these old birds! I have adored my black Nikkormat FTN and would like to find a top and bottom black metal brass plate replacement for this fine bird to make it a collector piece for my children! Our Nikon FM2's will go the same route now that we are so digital. Any ideas? Please email. Thanks. Ron3. From : S. Lee (sy.lee@telus.net)

I have a FTN. I have been using an old Vivitar 283. Unlike the newer cameras, the FTN & FT2 etc have mechanical shutter and can be used with almost any kind of flashes without worrying about high trigger voltage from the flash and possible damage to the delicate electronics of the newer SLR's and digicams.4. Does anyone know what type of battery the FT2 uses? I asked for one at a camera store that carries a lot of new and used products. The salesman seemed to know what he was doing but when I got the battery home (no I did not have the camera with me. I live 150 miles from a large city and wasn't planning to go there) the battery cover didn't ever come close to closing with this 625 in there. I'll keep the battery since it does fit my FTN but it is obviously wrong for the FT2.7. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Hi Janet: There are a number of places where you can buy manuals online (just do a Google search for "Nikkormat Instruction" and you'll find several). There is a very useful summary of the instructions right on this site, though, at: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikkormat/fseries/ftn/feature1.htm8. Hi Ross: Your Nikkormat ELW can accept any lenses that have the metal "fork" on the aperture ring to couple to the light meter. This includes the original or "Non-AI" series, the AI and AIS lenses, plus almost all third-party manual-focusing lenses in Nikon mount. Finding a newly made lens might be a trick, but there are LOTS of excellent used lenses available to fit the camera. rick :)=10. My father just gave me a Nikkormat ELW camera with 2 lenses (50 MM and 105 MM). I was wondering what types of lenses work with this camera, if anyone knows. Does Nikon even make lenses that would work with the camera anymore? THanks for the info.
