I have an Nikkormat FTN I havent used in a long time and I am looking to find a 70 or 80 - 200/210 zoom lens that has the right type of bayonet mount and is compatible with the Fnt. How can I find out what lenses are compatible. I 'm looking at KEH and eBay and am not sure what lenses are compartible. Is there a way to tell. I'ver read about the AIS lenses and I dont tknos if they are backward compatible. I also dont need one that has capabilities that the FTn dosent need. any information would be appreciated.2. There are a couple of hundred postings in this Message Board, the best solution to get an answer for simple (or rather common) questions is make use of the Search function provided in this site, key in a simple key word such as "mercury" will give you some good reads relating to Mercury battery issus. Hope it helps. By the way, if you are too lazy to perform such a task ( I did it for you and found one (by Gen Host) that reads " ... One way or another, some Nikkormatian may need this info. For those who need the mercury PX625 for your camera's meter, there is one source left that I know of. Go to: http://www.px625.com...". By the way, this is a GREAT Nikon site !3. I just purchased a FTn camera and need to find a battery. This website says that it takes a 1.3 V mercury battery. Could anyone tell me if I can use a 1.5 Volt or where I could find a 1.3 Volt battery.4. From : b30307 (elwoodj@mindspring.com)

For Daniel w/ the older FT. Judging by the serial # it's either a 1st model FT,( 1965-1967 ). Or could be an early model FTn, ( 1967-1975 ). The difference is being: FT has averaging meter which judges exposure from the entire focussing screen. Also, film speed - ASA - must be reset each time you change lenses. FTn has center-weighted metering and semi-auto film speed setting. If there's a capitol letter "N" above the top meter window it's an FTn. Will use any Nikkor lens which has a metering prong. Will also prong-less lens but only for "stop-down" metering. Good luck.5. From : daniel (witestar@fl.com.au)

Please take note: IF you are interested in acquring lenses for your Nikkormat camera, the creator of this site (leonard) has recently engaged into another project by compiling a very detailed MANUAL FOCUS Nikkor lense website at:
http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/index.htm
It is not completely ready yet (CHECK the bottom links of that page for sub-links to various lense types) but I think he is creating another high quality Nikkor resource site for all of us again. Take an example: The information that he has compiled for the Micro-Nikkor section can really get you glue on the screens for hours: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/nikkoresources/6070nikkor/micro/index.htm This is quite relevant to all Nikkormat users because other than the Nikon EL2 and Nikkormat FT3, the rest of other Nikkormats are Non-Ai bodies, and lens compatibility is a major issue if we intend to look out for further new investment. Enjoy.8. From : Neils (Nospam@emailsage.com)

I think it is the same with my mechanical Nikkromat. The battery is located inside the camera body, in a recess in the mirror box. Remove the lense first - Lock the mirror upwards, the battery compartment is hiding under the relex mirror. Good news is, yours is using silver oxide.9. From : Tom Tucker (tt4@earthlink.net)

Help! A beautiful Nikon EL2 with AW-1 winder has arrived here. I look at the specs and seems that the camera uses a 6v battery (!). For the life of me, I can't find any battery compartment on the camera. I feel really stupid, it must be there somewhere. The AW-1 winder takes 6 1.5 volt penlight batteries. No problem. Can someone please tell me how to find and replace the battery in the EL2? When I push the button on back, nothing lights up, showing the battery (ies?) are exhausted. This is confirmed by the sound of the shutter speeds. Seems the 1/90 sec. mechanical speed has kicked in, no matter what the setting on the shutter speed dial. Thank you in advance! Tom10. Giancarlo: Your FTN is a non-AI camera body. Well, as long as a Nikkor lens that has the meter coupling prong (the rabbit ears) on the aperture ring on the lens, it should work finely with your FTN camera. This is a easier way to identify the selection.
