To Alex re your EL-2:Is the collar around the shutter release turned to expose the red dot? This would explain the meter being on continously and the shutter unlocked with the wind lever flush.Under normal circumstances, you would have the collar covering the dot. When you add a winder, then you would have the wind lever flush, and the collar moved to expose the red dot,so you can meter and release the shutter with the winder on.Hope this is your problem.3. I just re-inherited, from my son a Nikkormat FT2. It was unused for 5-10 years and stored in Florida. It still looks good showing a slight amount of mildow/mold around edges of back and at hinge to cover. Inside clean exccept for a gummy residue near cover hinge and inside above opening for mirror. What will safely clean this up and is the gook deteriorated rubber or part of mold/mildow and should be removed? It still had a silver oxide battery incerted in meter power hole. Are these batteries still available or is their a modern substitue? It had not corroded and meter still moves. Have not yet tested function of anything yet until I get it cleaned up. THANKS for any help available. rwe5. From : Stefano Zocca (szocca@tin.it)

Hi, I'm from Italy and I only want to say a big thanks for the great job you have done with this site. Great. Great as my Nikkormat FT2 (and Nikon FTn) are: with this two cameras (plus a 28 mm f2,8 - 135 mm f. 2,8 and a 300 mm f.4,5, all nikkor of course), I haven't problem since 1970.
Have a Merry Christmas.
Ciao
P.S. My web site use italian language, but, clicking on the link "Pousada do Paolo" you will discover a very wild part of Brasil and how good still work my Nikkormat....6. From : Frank Haggerty (haggerty@biology.rutgers.edu)

I have realised that the film advance lever when flush with the body at the same time as turning off the light meter and electronics should also lock the shutter release button, which it doesnt. I hope this adds to my previous posting.

I have a Nikkormat EL2 that has a problem with the film advance lever. When you open up the film advance lever to the point just before you wind on another frame it is to turn the lightmeter on and when pushed flush to the body it is supposed to turn off the lightmeter. For some reason I cant turn the lightmeter off at all. As soon as the battery is put in, the lightmeter goes. I really need a repair manual to fix it myself as everyone in New Zealand wants to charge me a fortune just to look at it, let alone repair it (if they can even repair it ...spare parts for these????). I want to do it myself, but well, so I need a manual. It looks to me like an internal switch mechanism is the problem, and shouldnt be too hard to fix, Ill even make a spare part if there are none commercially available, but I would want to work from a maunal. Help! as I love my EL2. It still looks like new and it takes amazing photos, still! 30 odd years later.9. From : robby m (robbym111@hotmail.com)

Hi,
can anyone help me? I would like to disassemble a FT2 so that I can tighten up the flashmount which is loose, the screws come up from the bottom. I need to take the top off the camera apparently to do this and would like any advice.
Thanks10.
