I cannot remove the lens from my 1973 Nikkormat FTn. I believe that the lock pin is retracting properly when the release button is depressed because, if I put side pressure on the pin by trying to turn the lens, more force is required to depress the release button. Also, if I depress the release button first and try to rotate the lens in either direction, the release button will not pop up until I move the lens in the opposite direction. With the release button depressed fully, the lens will essentially not rotate at all, just by the small amount of "play" present between the parts. I have looked for obstructions by looking carefully from the back with the shutter open, but have found nothing. The body-lens assembly works properly in every respect (i.e., aperture, meter, shutter, focus); I just cannot change lenses. Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I"m the proud owner of a 1965 FT but I have lost the two screws which secure the base-plate. Where in Britain can I get replacements?

I recently lost the battery cap to my FT2. Anyone parting out a camera or aware of places to acquire such a small but essential part?

I recently acquired 2 Nikons, an FTn and an FT2. My experience has been with Pentax M42, so I'm stymied by this problem.
`The FTn came with a Micro-Nikkor auto 1:35 f55mm lens in place, well sort of ... I can't remove the lens! It seems to be on the wrong side of the Nikkormat nameplate, looking at the front of the camera. The rabbit ears/meter coupling is at about 10 o'clock position compared to the FT2 which is at 12 o'clock.
Depressing the lens lock-release is to no avail, the lens is obstructed by the nameplate.
Will removing the nameplate (two screws) allow me to turn the lens past this obstruction without screws and things falling out all over?
As it is the lens is locked onto the body and I only have f11-f32 range.

Greetings! Perhaps this query doesn't belong here, but I have a problem with a FTn I just acquired, along with an FT2. I'm new to Nikkormat and the lenses. Specifically, I can't remove the Micro-Nikkor Auto 3.5/55 lens that came with this camera. In comparing the position of the rabbit-ears/meter coupling, on the FT2 the coupling is almost at 12 o'clock, and I can easily remove the lens by using the lens lock-release. The coupling on the problem FTn is at about 10-11 o'clock, and turning it clockwise I can't get past the Nikkormat nameplate--something obstructs further movement. So the lens is "locked" on. I've been tempted to remove the 2 screws holding the nameplate on so as to get the coupling past the "obstruction". I'm excited to be a Classic Nikon owner, but puzzled by this problem.

How do you set the ASA on a nikkormat FT? do you set thge ASA at the red dot or at one of the dots marked 1,4, 2.0, 2.8, 3.5, 4.5, or 5.6? when I set it at the red dot, the meter seems way off. Also, what is the correct way to attach the lens? does the ring with the pin go all the way CW or do you put it where there is a slight detent? Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the very informative website. I bought a Nikkormat FT2 at a garage sale for $10 to replace my old Nikon that was stolen, and I'm still getting acquainted. Can you explain how to set the ASA film speed, now that I've found the speed settings on the lens face ring? I'm confused as to what the reference point would be--the red dot? the black? something else? What keeps it set and not moving around the ring?

Thank you

Question: What ring flash would you use with a Nikkormat F2 for close up work.
