Hi Victor: In the FTN you need a 1.35v battery, which can be hard to find any more. I use #675 zinc/air hearing aid batteries which are very accurate for metering and last about 6 months, and cost about a dollar apiece. You can get the same battery for about $8 as a Wein Cell, but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There are also voltage-reducing adapters that you can buy to use a 1.5v battery, but I've had good results with the zinc/air type and I think they're more accurate. See the attached URL for my approach to the problem, as well as links to other solutions. rick :)=

I just recieved a Nikomat FTn. The N is above the light meter window. Serial# FT4136xxx. I was checking the battery with another Nikomat FTn Serial #3637xxx and found one 1.3v and one 1.5v. web sites have given differing info on battery voltage for the FTn so I am confused. The differant batteries give one to two f/stops differances in readings in the light meter. Can any one tell me what is the corect battery for these cameras.

Hi Christian: I don't think you should have to remove the top cover; if you unscrew the knob from the rewind shaft, I think the shaft should pull out downward. However, if you do need to remove the cover: the cap on the axis of the wind lever is a screw. Grip this with a piece of rubber and turn it anticlockwise to remove it. Under this screw is a ring with a pair of spanner holes. Turn this anticlockwise to remove it also.

The depth-of-field and shutter release buttons are permanently attached to the top cover and come off with it. Watch for loose parts under the shutter release button and wind lever. rick :)=

I would like to remove the top cover of my ft-2 to exchange the axle of my rewind crank. How can I take off the film-advance lever and the depth-of-field preview button? Thanks for help. Christian

hi jon: As a rough approximation, I would place the value of your FT and lens at about $100, and another $50 for each of the extra lenses. :)=

I have a really nice Nikomat FT #3683364 with Nikkor-S 1:1.4 50MM and a complete case. I also have a Seikanon MC Auto Zoom 1:4.5 75-200mm and a Nikkor Q Auto 1:3.5 135MM. I was wondering if anyone out there could give me an approximate value on these items. I am not looking to sell these, but need the value for insurance coverage. The camera and lenses are in excellent shape and the camera was cleaned and tuned up 2 years ago and works perfectly and takes some of the best pix I've taken...

I have two Nikkormat EL2's and the shutter has jammed on one of them. Does anyone know where I can get a repair and service manual?

the nikkormat FT, FTN and FT2 all can accept Non-AI lenses, which would save you some money. If you have an FT3, this needs an AI lens. also, i have all nikkor lenses for mine except for one: a vivitar 28/2.8 wide angle, which for my purposes at least is a very satisfactory lens and cost quite a bit less than a nikkor. :)=

I purchased a Nikkormat FT series 12 years ago- Austin, texas. After many years of digital work, I am picking this one up again. One problem- where to get an affordable wide angle lens that fits this model? is it the Nikon A1 lense? what else is suitable? Any advice would be helpful.
