I've just bought an EL-2 in good condition for $83, which seems like a good price! I'm now thinking about buying a winder separately, and I have an important and probably easily answered question: When I'm using the camera with the winder attached, can I simply turn off the winder and advance the film manually, when I need to avoid noise? Regards, /Pontus

For Sale - "Nikon F Nikkormat Handbook of Photography", Cooper and Abbott. Hard notebook cover (20 ring) 1969 edition with 1970 supplements. The hard boards have dried out and separated from the spine.

The Nikkormat got a lot of use, but rarely used the handbook.

Hi Olga: You might want to look here, if you haven't already: http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikkormat/fseries/ftn/feature1.htm the meter is turned on and off by the film wind lever, and you set the film speed on a scale underneath the lens mount (part of the shutter speed ring). the meter is most sensitive in the central part of the viewfinder, less so toward the edges; still, it's a good idea not to take a meter reading with an unwanted bright light within the frame (aim the camera more closely at your desired subject, set the exposure, then return to your original position). with practice you'll become familiar with it and know how to get the results you want. n:)=

I am looking for repair manual for Nikomat EL. Unfortunately I heave no posibility to get it repaired in Poland (authorised service answered that they not run museum and can't repair it :( . So if anybody know where I can get it I will appreciate it. Thanks in advice Alexander P.S.: Or if anyone know how to fix such a problem: when I put in lenses, mechanism of aperature indexing makes a strange "click sound" and a reading of TTL are veeery optymistic. I checked that photocell is fine and working properly so I believe that it is mechanical problem.

Hi Hilary: I'm sure it depends on where you're looking, but a friend recently bought a decent FTn on eBay for $90, then changed his mind and resold it... and got $92. It's quite a bargain at that price, I think. FT's will run a bit less, FT2's a bit more, and FT3's a lot more (you can probably find an FM for less than an FT3). Personally, I think the FTn is the great bargain of the lot right now. rick :)=

Dear LF I hope all is well. This week I found a Mint- black Ftn. What a great product. It is built as well as my F, but at one third the cost. This is a great back-up body to my F3hp. While the meter is not to Canon F-1n standards, the build quality most certainly is. A true photo-tank, that is made to take a beating. Lower line? You must be kidding! Thank You Russ

I have just recieved a dear friends Nikkormat that he use in 'Nam back in the '70s and I'd like to get it up and going again. It's been well used and now when you advance the film and release the lever it trips the shutter. Need to find someone who will give it the TLC it needs so I can carry on with it as he would have. Any good reputable repair folks for old Nikkormats names and addresses would be a big help!

I have a 1975 Nikkomat that works perfectly except that the film counter advances twice for each film advance. Has anybody ever experienced this and how do you fix it??
