Hi Pekka: You basically go in from the front, removing the 4 screws in the lens mount flange and 4 more inside the mount, and then start lifting things off.

But there are quite a lot of things there, including 2 variable resistors and delicate little gold brushes, and at least one very fragile wire. There is a fair chance here of trading a working camera with a spotty meter for a pile of parts in the trash bin. If the cost of a professional service call is such that it's more economical to risk having to replace the camera, then you may wish to go ahead. If you do, please email me and i will send you a sketch (the sketch is of an FT model; there will be some variations from one to another)

Hi, Does somebody know how to get into the shutter time ring's interior ? The meter of my 35-yar old Nikkormat (otherwise like new) shows maximum value when I slightly push the time ring's handle, but if I don't touch it, it works OK. So, I think there is a bad contact inside. However, I have not been able to open the camera front - maybe I should not even try. Local prices for shop repair are ridiculously high. Pekka

Richard: It will be good to state your Camera model, next - what are you actually looking for ? For an example, new NIkkormat owner may not be able to identify the location of the battery compartment of this old SLR camera, not able to use the metering with newer Nikkor lenses etc. So, it is always easier to present your view or problem so as to see if we can help. Last, Rick Oleson is damn good at the Nikkormat, see if he can present some thought on this.

This is a very informative page and I have spent quite sometime in it. But I cannot find out what I am looking for. I have a Nikkormat given to me years back and I also left it unattended for that period. The other day I was going through my sheft and came across it. As it was unattended for years and with the Malasyia climate you know what has happened. Can you give me some information where I can get a good shop to service it. I guess it is still in a good condition.

Hi Leo: I don't have a Nikkormat parts body available, but here's an idea: go to eBay, and buy (hopefully at a decent price) a nikkormat body listed as "for parts" (make sure it has the self timer lever on it). after using the parts you need, post it and sell it again, also "for parts". you will probably get most of your money back, and you may even make a profit on it.

another possibility is to wait until someone else buys a parts camera, then email them and ask if they would sell you the parts you need from it. if they were after a different part, this should work.

I got a Nikkormat Ftn camera which is in great shape but I need the following parts: which are missing: Anyone have these parts or a parts camera, let me know.

1---Lever for the Self Timer
2--The Screw attachment to put the lever on the camera

If you have the above for that camera please let me know. Leo Christoffer 20340 Patrick Dr Burlington, Washington 98233 lkgroup@comcast.net

Parts will be a problem... but there are tons of nikkormats out there, and an established repair service might have some junk bodies that can donate a mirror.

Rick, Thanks for the website link. I will try to find a local store that can help. I know that there are probably limited parts since the camera is so old (1970's). Robin

Hi Robin: I'm a little surprised that your local stores don't have a relationship with repair services that can handle that, but I guess it's a sign of the times. There is a directory of repair services at Acecam.com - look up your area and read their descriptions to find an appropriate one. If you have questions give them a call and tell them what work you need done.

Need to replace the mirrors on a Nikkormat FT2 camera. Local stores cannot help. Any suggestions on where to contact? Thanks for any help. Robin
