I have a Nikkormat FTN that's given great service for almost 30 years. Now I notice the shutter speed in the view finder doesn't match the shutter speed on the lens ring. The actual speed is to the right of speed shown in the middle of the viewfinder.Help anyone?

Hi Doc: For filters and lens hoods, all you need to know is that the Nikkor lenses (all 50mm's and the majority of others) have a 52mm filter thread. Just look for whatever you want in that size.

Hello to All -

I just obtained a Nikkormat FTN off of e-bay with a50 mm/F2 lens. I am looking for links that sell filters, lens hoods and or other lens. EBAY has them periodically, but not at the time I was looking.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Sean: What do the spots look like? If they just look like "water spots", you can probably clean them off this way: wrap a lens tissue around the end of a cotton swab. Breathe on the mirror to fog it, and while it is still fogged, lightly wipe away the fog with the tissue. If it has spots that look like tarnished metal or something like that, you have probably damaged it with an incompatible chemical.

Is it possible to damage the mirror on a Nikkormat using lens cleaning fluid? After cleaning, some spots have appeared on the viewfinder. If the mirror needs to be replaced, are nikkormat mirrors easy to come by?

Hi Chris: I would price it at $9.99 and let the auction decide its value. Setting too high a starting price can make your first bidders hesitate and result in a lower selling price (or no sale). One of the best things about eBay is that you don't HAVE to know what the item is worth, the market decides.....
