Hey guys, I just had a quick question. I have a Nikkormat FTn and a Vivitar wide-angle lens. Unfortunately the lens filter (is this what its called? its the ring that screws atop the lens and is marked "vivitar skylight 49mm") has some sort of water spots between the two layers of glass, and I can't get them off due to their inaccessibility. I would like to still use the lens obviously, but I'm afraid the lens filter will obscure the quality of my photographs. Can I use the lens without the lens filter and take pictures? I would screw the filter back on in between shots in order to protect the lens.. thanks a lot in advance for any help! John2. From : turgidone (turgidone@logesis.com)

Can anyone identify our hand-me-down Nikomat based on this serial number: FT3242508? Does this make it an FT3? ASA range is 12-1600. Nikkor-H f2-f16 auto 50mm lens. Can't figure how to open it, so unable to determine if more info inside. Many thanks for any light you can shed. T3. From : Alan Geiger (ageiger40@msn.com)

Hi again Corey: You can't trust a handheld meter for such extreme macro work: the extension alone will affect your aperture, and the effect of the teleconverters may become hard to predict when you've stacked so much stuff together. The camera's TTL meter will correct for these things automatically, so it's more reliable (assuming it's working). Does the camera's meter read correctly without the tubes and teleconverters? If so, then it should still read right with them. ,Remember that when metering stopped-down, the meter coupling pin on the camera body must be parked over to the upper right (as you look at it from the front). rick :)=7. Thanks Rick, I've tried that and the internal meter still doesn't match up to what the handheld says. Looks like I'm in the market for a new camera. Thanks for the input.8. From : rick oleson (rick_oleson@yahoo.com)

Michael, if you don't mind the size of it, the Vivitar 283 is a really good flash. I wouldn't look any further unless you need a smaller package or a lower price.

Hi Corey: If I'm thinking correctly here, by putting the extension tubes between the teleconverters and the lens you will obtain the magnification normally provided by the tubes, multiplied by the power of the converters. I'm not sure if this will give you the best image quality, you may wish to experiment. As for metering, you'll have to do it stopped-down since there are no meter coupling pins on the extension tubes.10. I have a Nikkormat FTn and want to buy a flash. What is a good flash? Please give me a good Nikon brand suggestion and a non-Nikon brand suggestion. Thanks.
