I recently sold a Nikkormat body (not sure which model) which was attached to a Novoflex 640mm lens. There was a second, 300mm, Novoflex lens with it. The fitting of lens to camera was a screw-type. I sold the lens and body separately, and have been contacted by the lens buyer who says I seriously misrepresented the lens as it is not a Nikkormat fitting. It was indeed fitted to a screw-type Nikkormat, which I purchased independently to the lens. Please advise whether Nikkormats were available in screw-fitting lens mounts so we can clear up the problem. Regards

First, you have to ensure your camera is a Nikkor FT. But as far I know, the FS which looks identical to FT is a meterless Nikkormat and often mistaken one and another. The FT'e metering needs to couple with the lens in order the meter will function normally. Next, if the repair cost is too high (above USD50-00) calls for your smart thinking to reconsider buying an used Nikon FM/FT3 or something equivalent which may cost around USD150-00 if you can scout around with a little of patience. Come to think of it, althought owning a camera is NOT entirely a neccessity in our life, if you can afford to do so, why not consider give yourself a treat buying a updated unit as those few bodies mentioned earlier have better compatibility with newer series of Nikkor lenses and yet able to use your previous optics ? Peace.

I've got a Nikomat FT. I've been having problems with the metering system. Last year the meter overexposed all my slides. I had it adjusted and it worked fine until a few weeks ago when it overexposed more slides. Last week I had it adjusted again. The camera worked fine for about two rolls of film then it underexposed a complete roll of film yesterday. Each time I get it adjusted the cost is about $130. Am I throwing money away on this camera? Why doesn't it stay adjusted? The camera is 35 years old. Does the meter need replacing and if so are there new meters out there for a camera this old?

I'm looking for the small viewing window that covers the exposure frame counter on a Nikkormat FT. I believe that an FTn will also fit. Please contact me at the above e-mail address if anyone has one of these laying around, or knows where I can find one.

Thank you!

@paul:
no battery can replace mercury V 625 PX.
voltage ist to high (1,55-1,6V). or lifetime extremely low (zink-air).
adapters lack to provide accurate voltage of 1,35V over the whole range of metering-current from about 10uA to 2000uA.
i recently bought a mercury battery at my photoshop. there are still some available.
there is no real alternative.
cheap but inaccurate trick: use a 1,55 V battery and adjust the meter by variation of the ASA setting comparing the metering results with a modern slr ´looking´ at the same scene.
