I'm diehard tri-x full frame purist, and have owned nikkormat ftns Since 1971 (then as a backup for my F). The one I have now is a black ftn with a plastic wind lever. It's the remainder of two nikkormats I used on holiday in the Philippines in 1976. Back then I always shot without a meter so I took the batterries out, and only had two lenses 28f3.5, 50f2. Those images still rival my old Leica M summicrons (35f2, 90f2). The funny thing is I've tried unloading this Nikkormat three times. I gave it to my son, I gave it to my father, I sold it to a friend who sold it back to me. It just keeps coming back so I've decided to use it. I had it cleaned and checked-the meter works great (I guess it's because I never used it). I'm beginning to wonder if nikkormats were better made than the F's of it's time. I love the weight and the metal feel. It reminds me alot of my Dads old '57 Dodge w/push button automatic transmission.2. From : T. J. Cusumano (tjcusumano@aol.com)

I have an early model FT. I have a question regarding the F-stops and the ASA settings.
I have a Nikkor 50mm f2 lens and when I need to set the maximum aperature setting (f2) to a high ASA numbered film (say 400 or higher), my light meter immediately pins downward to the overexposed range if I open the apature wide (such as 2, 2.8, and sometimes 4).
Is there something wrong with my internal light meter?3. From : Shootertec (shootertec@cox-internet.com)

I have a Nikkormat camera with numbers FT 3533.... Which camera is this, body style size wise? Also I need a flash or some sort for an up coming assignment. What do I need and where can I get one. I borrowed one from from my instructor and the flash mounted on top like it's supposed to, but it would never flash, unless I pushed the manual button on the flash. DO I need something from the "x" or "m" button link thingy?
Please help

I have a Nikkormat FT3 camera is in mint minus condition in its original box with instructions - internal meter and everything works well as if new (camera was was recently serviced - cleaned & new foam installed) and was seldomly used as evidenced by its excellent condition. The Nikkormat has a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens, and a Nikon FB-5 case. I don't use this camera anymore, I've gone digital. Can anyone suggest collector organizations or a method for me to sell the camera? Whatever advice I get will be appreciated. Thank you.5. From : Deniese (sixfrothy@prodigy.net)

I just recieved a 1967 Nikkormat SLn. It has been in my husbands family since it was bought in 1967. It is in excellent condition. I am about to begin photography classes and want to know if this is a good camera to start with.6. From : Bob (bvfulton@norwich.net)

I have owned a Nikkormat FTN for many years and am now interested in finding an electronic flash for the camera. Any suggestions as to makes, models, etc. would greatly help.
Thank you.

Greetings....I just purchased a used FT2 Nikkormat. The lense is a Nikkor-H-C Auto 1:2 f= 50mm. I know next to nothing about cameras. What should the maximum aperture scale read when I insert this lense? It's reading between 1.2 and 2.8 - Is this lense acceptable (being it says "auto")? Any feedback would be appreciated.9. Please can someone advise me. I am in Zimbabwe at the moment and have found a 28mm 1:2.8 lens series E, someone is wanting to sell. It is a little worn but otherwise fine. The guy wants me to offer him a good price but I am clueless as to what it might be worth. Obviously I don't want to rip him off but give him a fair price for the lens. Can anyone advise me? Due to the currency here I would prefer to know the going rate in US$ or sterling. Thanks for your time. Donna10.
